Finback Brewery (2018)

Just cracked my first 003 can, and I'm liking it a lot more than on draft. On draft was great, but very very dry and dank. Was only really getting that mosaic dankness and sharp citrus. From the can I'm getting a touch of sweetness, and a lot more tropical fruit and juiciness. Very easy drinking.

 

I thought this was odd. Grabbed one on tap when i picked up the cans and it was really good. The cans do seem a tad sweeter or maltier which seems to translate to juicer - very very good. Easily go head to head with Lambo.

 

I actually thought the draft and cans this time around tasted almost exactly alike, and both damn tasty. Head to head with Lambo if Lambo grew another foot...

 

On tap I thought it was danker (dangerously close to green onion levels of dankness), but definitely happy with the cans.

Did Oscillation 003 cans end up hitting any stores? I haven't seen them anywhere but wasn't sure if they sold out at the brewery. Was really hoping they'd pop up but I might have to trade for a can or two to try it out.

 

I've heard that cans probably won't pop up in the city, which kind of sucks. But, I've also heard that a limited number of sixtels will be released at the usual spots.

 

I emailed Finback to see if they would send any to NYC shops and they confirmed whatever they may have left is just being sold at the brewery.

003 is pretty damn great.

 

Hoptron in the island has it on tap. Confirmed better than 002 cans but I don't think it's as good as 002 tap at brewery day of release

 

How did people think Apple Brandy BQE compared with BA BQE? Worth trekking out to Finback for the release?

 

I loved Apple Brandy BQE and actually preferred it to BA BQE

 

What is Finback Family and how come I can't find any information on this?

 

westchester places got some cans of 003. dunno how many though.

 

Rattle n Hum West is filling crowlers tonight from 6-10. Oscillation 003 is on their menu as of yesterday, so I assume they'll fill anything on tap.

 

Interesting, is this something they are just doing for NY beer week or do they always have crowlers available?

 

I am honestly not sure, but hope it becomes more commonplace around the city.

 

Has there been any more info on the AB release this Saturday?

 

Its on Sunday 2/28, assuming its like BQE was--bottles being sold at open. Finback may post something on Facebook this week, too

 

Haven't heard anything other than it's 02/28. For BA BQE, they had a 4 bottle limit at $15/per starting at opening. Hopefully, we'll get an update soon.

 

I saw on their website that they're making the Buddy System again which I had last March and it was pretty solid. I imagine they'll be tweaking that DIPA from last batch. It was pretty tasty and it was fairly strong (>9%).

That Family is a 5.8% green tea saison by the way.
