    Dear Diary,

Today has been a rough day. I feel like somewhat of an outcast, am I that socially awkward? One of my good friends got invited to what is sure to be the party of the year by one of the most popular kids in school but I didn't get invited.

    Yours truly,
    Bduble

You remember correctly. I gave up a 2011 Utopias and a single westy 12 for it..
It was in fact for an epic tasting for myself and my crazy beergeek friends, as suggested by Pahn. We all know it isn't going to taste good, but a friend had the entire set except for the 02 so when I saw the ISO I did the trade. The Utopias was $180 so it isn't like it broke the bank or anything... I can get another if I really wanted to, but the novelty of having the complete vert is worth the money. The party we'll have will be awesome regardless of how bad the 02 is and IMO it probably won't taste much worse than any of the other bottles..(not a fan of Stone in general) After we struggle through the first 10 mediocre beers, we have a pretty epic list of real beers we'll open, and this fiesta will take place in VT so a keg of something HF may be in order as well.
Funny part is, the East coast usually doesn't see the vertical epic beers for weeks after they are released and our sorry asses planned this shindig for Dec 21st.... So chances are good that after all of that work we will likely be missing the 12/12/12... Fuck it.

Why would anyone want a homebrew clone???
It's not part of the vertical?

This makes no sense to me. Just do without the 020202.

This is like saying I'm going to clone Bigfoot '96 - 2002 because I dont have them for a vertical tasting.

What would a full vertical of Vertical Epic be worth "in trade?" 02-11, plus 12 when it arrives?

I can confirm this. ~$72 after tax. There should be several bottles still there. Also 07 and 09 for like $20 and $11.

Also - Bottleworks will be releasing entire sets ('02-'12) - no word on price, but I was told "not as much as you might think". That said, i'm sure it will be really high.

I have '03 - '11. It seemed like a decent idea to collect these, but now I'm not even all that interested in tasting how poorly they've aged!

Jesus. I should have seen that coming, though. They've been slowly releasing bottles of various years pretty much all the time. If I had to estimate from the individual bottles they sell I'd guess in the vicinity of $400-$500. Considering how crazy people go over 02.02.02 alone, I think the verticals would sell pretty well.

    a lot.

put it this way: if you have 02 thru 11 and you don't already know what it's worth, name what it is you want (that isn't dave), and your beers are probably "worth more" than that (ie it will get done). apologies if i'm wrong, but i'm probably not.
