Newport, R.I. brewery/brewpub

    I will be visiting Newport, R.I. with my wife tomorrow. We are meeting up with a couple that has family in the area, and us husbands will need to "entertain ourselves" for most of the day.

    What better way than to sample some of the local libations?!

    I am thinking of going to Newport Storm, but I am open to other suggestions. Just looking to stay close to Newport.

    Also looking for good store to browse for stuff to bring home.

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Newport storm is pretty good...

    My personal favorite brewpub is Coddington. Their hoppy stuff isn't much but their dark stuff is good.

    Good bottle shops, Newport wine cellar just got into craft so their hoppy stuff is fresh and they have a great selection of belgians and some cool sours plus its clean and coordinated. Sandy's is excellent as well if a little chaotic.

    Besides that Pour judgment is pretty good if a little expensive and Norey's has a good selection but again expensive.

    Newport is more of a posh posh wine city but there are some gems for sure.

    Coddington is a good spot to stop for lunch and a couple beers. Nothing mind blowing, but not bad.

    Malt is pretty good, it's located between PJ and Norey's.

    Last time i did newport storm rum tasting the guy ran out of rum glasses so he used pint glasses instead.
