If I remember correctly, most guest taps were $5 and you just paid cash

Yes, yes they are. And they will be lubricated with the tears of all the individuals who will miss out on the tickets to get in and get a variant this year.

Not sure about the changes to ticketing this year. Can see good and bad in both this system and the previous one.

Had a blast last year despite the rain and this year I have a room booked at the Hampton that's near the brewery. Hopefully I can get a ticket now.

Hell, I might just go anyway without a ticket. I remember tons of people hanging out outside the grounds having a great time.

I'm intrigued at the Uber option from the city to get there. I didn't actually know Uber would take you out there - has anyone done it before and know what the cost was?

Last year, my group took a free shuttle to/from DLD from Jack's Tap in downtown Chicago. I would not want to have to drive anywhere after that event...

And I think you're right, it was $20/bottle of reg last year, not $15. I think I was remembering $15 from my first DLD in 2011.

Did that shuttle from Jack's work pretty well and was it easy to use? I saw that as an option, and it seems like it'd be quite a bit cheaper than Uber.

Have prior years of DLD released a tap list prior to the event?

    If yes, was it accurate?

Other breweries may post things, but I can't recall a tap list. Hazy recollection of World Class Beverage releasing something back in 2009 or 2010...but that could easily have been after. At any rate, FFF taps all sorts of stuff at their various stations as the day goes on.

If you buddy up with an employee pulling the taps they may show you the list, wont tell you when or where. But they did not post anything official, you just have to be on the lookout.

Awesome! Very pleased by the changes. I'm hoping to make this my 3rd year! First year for the GF to come along.

An Uber from Chicago would probably set you back a pretty penny. I think they are referring to Uber in northern IN, so you could take a metra to hammond or whatever the closest stop and then grab an Uber.

I used the Jak's shuttle last year. It's about $30 with the fees and whatnot and it's pretty well run. At least last year it was just a school bus so no pisser on board. You also have to pick/schedule a return time at purchase, but they were pretty flexible in letting me change last year.

Reggies in the south loop does a free shuttle that is first-come, first-served and the first one leaves at 8 or 9. It's a good time, but get there before opening if you want to guarantee yourself a spot on that first bus. They do a breakfast buffet too if you want to lay a foundation (while starting to drink IPAs at 8 a.m.). They also have someone selling beer on board the Reggies bus.

I've heard good things about the Reggie's bus, but IIRC we went the Jak's Tap route because it seemed safer/easier, because you have a ticket and know that you're getting a spot. On the way back, I think we took a different timeslot from what our tickets were supposed to be for, but they didn't care. Also, my GF was supposed to come with me to DLD, but she had to go to work or something at the last minute, and I was able to give her spot on the bus to a friend just by giving him the wristband. Nobody cared. It was definitely a good experience.

The bottle sharing started on that bus from Jak's, which is another reason I would choose that option over driving.

The only downside... after the giant coffee I drank at Jak's, then the bottle share on the bus, then the bottle share in the line to get into the festival, I had to make a bee-line for the portopotty, and by the time I got in the tap line, the dude two spots in front of me got the last pour of BVDL before it kicked. Damn my aging bladder! I was so close!

Doh! That makes way more sense. I think the shuttle option sounds like the way to go.

That's why I took the Jak's bus last year. Saved me a little worry with a designated departure time on the way out and the west loop departure stop worked better for me coming in from the western burbs as it was an easy walk from the blue line stop.

Yeah, it's certainly a balancing act with the intake pre-DLD...I'm pretty sure the head was the first stop for everyone in our group as well once inside the gates.

I would take a shuttle but my favorite part last year was getting in line super earlier and bottle sharing at 7 in the morning haha.

To me, the only downside to this whole prepay thing is that my $200 ticket doesn't include whatever I inevitably eat at White Castle.
