To be honest, I wasn't really impressed. Didn't get much barrel presence. Some char/roast, but not a ton else. But, my friend really liked it, bought 2 bottles to take home. Other friend had finished his glass before I even got there, and I don't know what his opinion was. So, I guess opinions can vary

I wouldn't rank Thanatoid in probably even the top 10 local BA stouts, but it was worth a bottle purchase w/a free glass.
This one does seem to get mixed reviews. I'm pretty critical of BA beers where the barrel is either virtually non-existent or real weak, but I did get a strong barrel presence from this one and I liked the roast character with a sweet-ish back end. I have a feeling that the barrel will fade quick though, much like it did with Whiskey Funeral.

The upcoming Station 26 BA Dark Star, however, should be fantastic unless they completely screw up the bottling process.

After grabbing my UJ, I went to Finkel & Garf to try their BA Imp Stout. Man, is that stuff good. I liked it more than Thanatoid and is a bargain at $14 a 4-pack of 12oz cans. I don't know how well they'll age in cans, but I bought 2 4-packs anyway.
I also got a 4-pack of the oak aged Imp stout, which was also very good. Both beers drank much bigger than their 10% ABV. Rich, full body and flavor. Get 'em while you can.
I'll be keeping my eye on F&G from now on.

Also if anyone is in Boulder, Wild Woods opened their last keg of BA Black Smoke, that is another flat-out fantastic BA Stout. The barrel has mellowed some since it was first released, but I'm still a big fan

Little's on Downing (south of Evans). It's one of Denver's true gems when it comes to craft beer selection. Their walk-in (sort of hidden) beer room is the shit. Big ups to Little's.

I try not to talk about it too much so it doesn't get blown up with bearded beer nerds...although, they'd probably like that...

Hazel's has a bunch of it. Just bought a 4 pack, and it's good. $4 a can. Can't beat it.

Brewery is selling it for $14 a 4-pack, if I remember correctly.
Popped a can the other night and it was just as good as on tap. I have friends visiting in June so I'll save at least a couple until then and hope it holds up

Gotta stock up on the $4 cans of BA stout to offset the $30 saisons.

I found it thin which pretty much stops me in my tracks on an Impy stout. The flavor was good I guess but i couldn't get over how thin it was.

Did you have it from the tap or bottle? I found it to be significantly better on tap, but that's based purely on memory. I need to get back to the tap room to solidify my opinion.

I just cracked open my bottle of DBC's Bad Motorfinger last night. (It's oak aged not BA). I was actually quite impressed, got a lot of great coffee flavor, good mouthfeel, adequate carbonation, and a lost of dusty cocoa powder. At the price they are (were?) selling these at, it's a good deal. It's a little on the sweet side, but what I perceive to be some tannins kind of dry it out a little to provide balance. Absolutely no hint of green pepper off-flavor. Aroma was nice as well. Held up great with nearly 6 months in the bottle.
