Come on, choke down, LOL - it was delicious. Not sure what you expected...it was described as a stout with vanilla beans and raspberries and tasted like chocolate, raspberries and vanilla. Don't make it sound like the beer was a chore to drink just because you ordered a beer with ingredients you don't like.

It was pretty nasty. There were five of us seated at the table and none of us could bring ourselves to finish even an ounce of it. I can't see how anyone could stomach the flavor in that beer without making themselves sick.

Yet Founders Big Lushious, the beer you compare it to, has a score of 88 here (you are the guy who outsources your beer purchases when travelling to ratings IIRC). And the WBC has a 3.75 on that one app some people use.

Was the Willoughby cask the best fruited stout ever? No, but it was good to very good. Saying it would make people sick is ridiculous.

I'm not a huge fan of fruited stouts, but I thought the session 1 BDA was surprisingly good.

So because it has an 88 on here means I'm obligated to like it? Lol.

No, of course not, but you're the jackass who posts whenever you travel and asks people to recommend beers "preferably with a 4.0+ rAVG, not trying to hunt down below average shelf turds" bro so obviously the scores here really matter to you.

Just saying it's completely disrespectful to a brewer to say one of his beers would make people sick just because it's a style you don't like.

So why do you bash hoof hearted all the time because you don't like the appearance of their beer? I think you just like to troll but you usually come off as butthurt.

Sounds like there's a couple people here that need a beer together.

I may try to come to Meadville on the 26th, but it's going to be tough.

You have such strong opinions on local breweries but when someone posts THEIR OWN OPINION on a brewery that you like, you do get butthurt. You don't represent Willoughby or the Cleveland beer scene for that matter. People have opinions that differ from yours, deal with it

He's one you aren't going to like...I like Market Garden. They make excellent beers representative to the styles and I know for a fact that the brewing staff at Market Garden is second to none.

I'm good with different opinions. I think we all have the potential to represent this scene, so go for it - the more informed opinions and perspectives, the more diverse we are and the stronger we'll be.

Here's one you will be surprised with...I don't care that you don't like Market Garden. I think their new brewery is going to be great and I've been in touch with the guys and am very excited to see them take this step forward.

So, again, I have no problem with opinions, but back them up with facts, not with "I don't like this style so it must be horrible and would make people sick". That was my problem. Saying you don't like something = OK. Admitting you don't like a style then slamming a beer and calling it undrinkable when it's a perfectly decent representation of that style = no good.

I think session 2 BDA could be refined/ tamed down and be a really good beer. I did a blend with a quarter of my nutsmasher and a splash of the BDA and it was phenomenal.

I was bummed to not get to try that. I wasn't crazy about the BDA cask in session 1, but I am not big on fruited stouts generally. On the other hand, I love the spicy, spicy stouts.

I enjoyed the bda 1, thought it was unique. I really liked the ipa with lime and habenero and heard some negative comments on that one while there. We all have different tastes and it's nice to see brewers use a release like nutsmasher to try and reach the outliers on some of these flavor profiles. I have learned over time to not label a beer as "no good" just because I don't like it. There are many popular beers people rate highly I don't prefer. I'm not going to name them for fear of being shot.

I thought the session 1 BDA cask was a little sweet and artificial but it definitely hit on all of the flavors described. Now the lime, habanero, and guava cask was pure summer time for me. I'm a sucker for lime so I loved it. The Taft's Ale Skronk Juice and Butcher and Brewer Orange Blossom Saison were especially great to me as well. It sucks to hear how the keg situation was for the session 2 folks. We showed up an hour late and still managed to get at least one pour of Nut Smasher. I think the important thing is to remember that there was no promise of a pour. I feel like they anticipated that folks would get some for each session and they will certainly learn from this. Good news is, likely none of us will be upset when we get to try some BA Nut Smasher.

Had a great time...session 1 ran smooth IMO. Great staff, food, and taps. Will definitely visit again.

The orange blossom saison was probably my favorite guest beer. It's the first offering I've had from butcher and brewer and if they canned or bottled it, no doubt it would be my go to all summer.
