it was at binnys on grand at noon, only a few left. Maybe more in back if you ask.

 

Made a stop at LP and hauled a few boxes of beer out, including some HCM and a bunch of Lizard King.

I went to both Binny's LP and Lakeview today, and noticed that their cans of NvU and Lizard King aren't the freshest batches. The NvU was from 2/2 and LK from 1/26. Has anyone seen the fresher versions in the city? It wouldn't be a big deal for me to buy those personally, but I'm looking to get some for somebody that is a freshness freak.

 

Pretty sure either Beer Temple or Capones would have fresher NvU - I remember social media posts from both recently about new batches coming in.

 

I was thinking one of those might have them...I think I can swing by tomorrow. Thanks.

 

Lizard hasn't been brewed for some time. New batch this coming week, I hear.

Hmm. Guess my usual store just didn't see any that week.

 

Yeah, I guess not every store gets every shipment. Neither Binny's by me had the 2/12 cans, but Capone's had them.

 

They just canned some this past week, probably be distributed this coming week

 

I'm going to be in town this weekend visiting a friend. I plan on picking up Lizard King and NvU, but is there anything else I would kick myself over not getting? I have a pretty diverse pallet and enjoy "weird" brews, so I know I'm not being very helpful.

 

Honestly? Grab what's there. If you're into weird stuff you're probably not going to be disappointed with any of it.

 

I think Pipeworks Hello... is an incredible and under hyped beer. Don't let the "smoked" element scare you, as it really comes through more as a roast. As someone who dislikes PWs penchant for cloyingly sweet stouts, Hello... is one of the best PW dark beers I've ever had.

 

Would love more posts like this; I've passed on it due to mediocre reviews. Guess I should grab a bottle.

 

Hope it doesn't disappoint you! I found it awesomely well-balanced, and I've been getting more and more into appreciating balance through English and German beers as of late.

mediocre reviews? It's basically a 4.0 on this website and 4/5 on the most popular check in app.

It's a really solid beer and the ratings confirm that.

 

Fair point. But there are 66 other current pipeworks beers rated above it and about 58 (I lost count) rated below it. And the majority above and below all group right around 3.8 - 4.1.

And I don't think that's just because Pipeworks only makes very good to outstanding beers. 4 is sort of people's default rating for Pipeworks and many times it's not deserved IMHO. PW has to urinate in a bomber and infuse it with cat hair and starfruit zest before people rate it badly.
