FWIW, I call APA/IPA/IIPA/IIIPA "pale ales" for the sake of this conversation.

What say you all? For me, I could just hand you a list of 077XX variants, but there's some other really super stuff. Carton's IDIPA, Kane's Head High, Hop Lab Citra and Hop Lab IIIPA are also top tier. I've heard great things about I Want To See Mountains from Tuckahoe, and Danky Kong from Glasstown is really good too. Am I missing anything?

I haven't had any of these, but my mom lives in Princeton. What are my chances of scoring some of those well-regarded beers when I'm there next?

for straight up pale ale i'd have to give it to kane citra pale ale. extra juicy and super drinkable.

shout out to Magnify low Visibility. got some cans last weekend and they are awesome.

my favorite IPA is probably the mosaic o'dub variant. still haven't tired the Kane IIIPA, gotta make a trip soon.

I have had a lot of 07750 recently and while it is absolutely bonkers, I am not positive it's the best odub variant because I have had so little of the other variants. I had the Galaxy one at Maloney's a while back and thought it was extremely good as well. Would like to seek out more than the little 4oz(?) pours I got on IPA day last year at Carton. Luckily they have been pouring the rotating dubviant tap so I'll have to get there for that soon. Hoping that means they're making enough of each version to can them all soon!

EDIT also interesting to see how similarly most people feel. FWIW, I don't consider IIIPA to be a real style!

Whenever I go a while without going to Carton or Kane I always wonder why I dont go more often.

In the spirit of the thread however I agree its tough to beat Kane Citra or the Triple IPA. For a session their Ripple is also phenominal. Unfortunately I havent had the 0077 varients though. :slight_frown:

You guys left out Boat. All discussion starts after Boat. Boat is NJ's greatest pale and the worlds best session IMHO
You are also forgetting Hoppun and Ripple, both very very good.

Agreed I think Boat is one of NJs best beers and def the best session beer out there. But I do not think it is the best pale, ipa or iipa.

Is there anything else locally to compete with Kane Hop Lab Triple IPA? I wasn't impressed by it. I love All Green Everything but that is from NY.

I'll throw in Carton's Epitome. That is the one 'pale ale' that has really surprised me.

The Nelson 00750 was damn awesome too. Hope to try more O Dub variants soon!

I dont think so at the moment. I did see a can design for Carton SuperEgo Triple IPA, no idea when it will be brewed, if at all.

Not sure if you are confusing Epitome with something else as that is an imperial black ale, not a pale ale.

Also looking forward to the O'dub variants and would love to see some kind of release schedule on those.

My vote would have to be for Head High but this thread is all over the place as any voting results that includes Boat, a 4.2% session beer and Hop Lab Triple, a 10.5% abv Triple IPA is kind of silly.

I actually think Ripple may be Kane's best hoppy beer.

Of the ones I've tried Magnify Vine Shine, Magnify Low Visibility, Magnify Woah Nelly, Carton Boat, Carton 077, Kane Head High are all great.

Thought it was a black IPA, guess not.

    Session: Boat

    APA: Magnify Low Visibility

    IPA: Head High

    IIPA: 077XX/Exit 16

Black IPA: Epitome (It says Imperial Black Ale on the can but Augie's description of it on their Youtube page says that it's a Black IPA)
