Congrats to @quinnsi for being named “Best Craft Beer Apostle” by Josh Noel and the Chicago Tribune. Article also states how The Beer Temple is planning to move a few doors down to add a bar, classroom, and more retail space. Really happy for everyone associated with this business – considering the combination of superb selection and friendly but knowledgeable service I can’t think of another place I’d rather spend my hard-earned money.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Chris also hosts a weekly podcast called The Beer Temple Insiders Roundtable. I’ve found it to be very informative yet equally entertaining (especially when EdMar is on). It keeps me sane on my daily “L” commute, aka tin can from hell.

Here's a second vote for that podcast. The way it's set up (brewers, distributors, and bar/retail owners) gives a great perspective on the industry as a whole from a lot of different points of view.

    Congrats Chris!!!

I just visited The Beer Temple for the first time this past weekend. I make it up to Chicago every few months, and I loved it. Staff was friendly and gave great recommendations. The selection was equally as impressive. I will definitely be stopping here on every trip!

Great podcast. I would pay handsomely in beer and dollars to get to hear these guests off the cuff comments after the show ends. I have the intro memorized and say it along now each week.

Haven't listened to the Podcast, but how is the selection compared to a Binny's? I'm going to be in town this weekend and likely only get 1 stop to pick up beer.

Binny's Lincoln Park is simply massive. If it's available in Chicago, and not sold out yet, they'll have it. The Beer Temple is smaller, but you will still find a dozen things you want. Plus, you can talk to the owner or one of the knowledgable staff for twenty minutes and based on the dozen things you've picked out that you want, they will correctly point you to a dozen other things you didn't know that you wanted.

If I was from out of town and only had time for one, my solution would be to make my trip longer. It's a hard choice.

What is this you say, they are looking to move away from that wretched, wretched intersection? Wonderful!

Neither is a bad choice, but if you're trying to talk beer, go to BT.

    Also, pro tip for everyone:
A couple blocks south of BT, on California, you'll find a phenomenal taco place called La Zacatecana. Grab a steak or al pastor taco (or both), thank me later. Taco and beers.

The thing that would put BT over the top for me, more than anything else, is freshness. They are obsessed with getting beer as fresh as possible and making sure everything is clearly labeled so you know exactly how old your beer is. At Binny's, you are going to find a lot more stuff sitting around.

Beer Temple is as good as it gets. Great selection, service, pricing and expertise. Always a great experience there regardless of who is working that day.

Agreed, that intersection is horrible. I think it's fantastic they're moving to a larger location and adding a bar but that little parking lot behind the current location is a blessing. Trying to park around there without it will add to the nightmare. Don't get me wrong, it's not going to stop me from still going there...

When I was up for DLD I made it a point to stop here and check it out, I cant tell you how many times I drove around the block thinking where the hell do I park. Then I luckily found a spot in the back little parking lot.

Elston has a bunch of free parking as well. I can usually always park across the street on Elston.

Yeah, I've never had a problem parking on Elston near the store. Much easier in/out as well. For BT events it might be different but for normal business as usual days, shouldn't by an problems on Elston.
