There may not be and hasn't been in years past. I can't remember if they made the same statement about not being allowed to get a second allotment on past years web pages.

They would have to go through the line twice, they won't let one person pick up two allotments, but if you wait in line again I don't see how they would catch you (unless they mark your hand or something)

Every year since 2011 I think they have said 1 allotment per person. In 2009 and 2010 you could get like 4 allotments if you had the tickets.

I guess that was kind of my point. Will they have some new system or way to weed out the mules or people going through a second time? Doubt they announce it ahead of time anyways if there is some system. Anybody who tries and fails, just leaves 5 extra paid for bottles behind for them so it's more money they make. They didn't outright encourage it before, but it meant more customers through the line and more bottles paid for and sold. Now all bottles will be paid for ahead of time so they can double their earnings if the don't allow somebody back through a second time.

Gotcha and thanks for the info. I won't be attempting it but was just curious if there would actually be measures in place to deter it.

I only just noticed this on the etix site. Did they have this feature last year?

"If a certain group is not desired, select the 'Best Available' tab, number of tickets desired, then 'Add Tickets'."

I don't recall that being an option last year.

Their website says that you & the person you bought a ticket for must enter at the same time, so I think there would be some easy way to manage it. Basically, if me & my buddy have to enter at the same time and they take away my ticket when I/we get our allocation, I wouldn't have a ticket to get back in line for a second allocation.

Of course, I've never been before, so maybe that's how it was done in the past and people still managed to skirt the system.

I think what he is saying is enter with two tickets (just hide one in your bag) and no buddy. Use the first ticket to get an allotment, go through line again and use the second ticket.

There have been 2 entry points in the past. A person could exit their initial entry point and walk around to the other entry and present their second ticket because their name will be on both tickets. The more I thnk of it, the harder it would be to stop or enforce. Unless you are incredibly unlucky and they recognize you a second time and refuse you, I think you'd probably make it through a second time.

In the scenario you listed, then yes, you and your buddy would both have to go up at the same time or he could just pass his ticket off to you once inside and you would go through a second time.

I assume they will stop measures of people using the same ticket for a second allocation, but won't be able to manage somebody buying a second ticket for themselves.

Agreed with above - if I purchase two and my name is on both tickets (like last year), I need to be present with my guest so my guest can enter. Or, I just go in and keep the second ticket/lanyard to myself.

The best way to ensure against one person using two tickets is to require the guest's name at the time of purchase - similar to Rare Day.

Well, I guess that shows I'm not sneaky enough to do stuff like this. It seems like they don't have a good setup for preventing it...or perhaps it's just not that big of a problem in their eyes to put stricter measures in place. Maybe just give one ticket for both people, so you don't have that second ticket to come back in with.

Yeah except with Rare day you had a couple days to claim your tickets and enter your friends name. With DLD you have minutes.. and assuming all of your buddies are trying to get tickets at the same time, and tickets continue to leave carts and become available sporadically for about an hour.. it would be a logistical nightmare to try to coordinate that and nail down a guest name.

Yeah honestly I don't think it is a big problem, I doubt many people are going to bother going through line twice to get two allotments, and if they really want to do that.. great.

I love this idea.....and if they did that then I'd for sure only buy 1 ticket because as of right now I really don't know who my guest would be. But I'm sure that by the end of the day on saturday I would know. I'd be fine with it either way honestly.

yeah there are like 18 guys in my tasting group and it would be a nightmare trying to figure out the guest situation during ticket purchase time.

Alright guys, no more coming up with clever ways at getting around the bottle limit! This will (hopefully) be my first chance to get a BA DL bottle, and I don't want you evil geniuses ruining it for me!!!

I'm pretty excited about DLD this time around (I mean, more so even than the last couple). I think this manner of handling tickets is going to cut down on a lot of time-wasting and issues for everyone. Coupled with the fact that we may have nice weather (which would be a first in my hopefully 3 years going)...This should be a blast, and let everyone concentrate on what really matters, which is expending MAXIMUM EFFORT (Deadpool reference) on consuming delicious beer.

Requiring guest names would certainly cut down on mules and those buying for extra allocations. I personally like the flexibility of buying a second ticket and in case my guest can't go, being able to find somebody else in place of them. Rare day was also a much smaller event in comparison size wise and could be a nightmare for them to accurately group guests and tickets together.

    Touché!

I just meant that I don't want to get screwed out of a decent bottle choice by people scamming the system (whether or not that's even a danger, who knows). I will be more than happy to come away with two decent variants (for me and my gf), or even two of the same "decent" variant, but I don't want to be walking around with 2 bottles of Malort barrel-aged tequila Dark Lord (which isn't a variant, before @blue-dream yells at me again).
