I work in the beer and wine dept. of a Whole Foods in Cleveland. We recently got in the GLBC summer sampler.

My eyes dart towards the new Mosaic session IPA, and their new "experimental" IPA named Hop by Numbers.

After tasting both I'm going..."Well, what the f**k?"

Both of which are supremely malty, bready & peppery (respectively) in relation to the alleged Mosaic hops or new "experimental" hops.

I know that GLBC brews on the side of tradition, but I was a bit let down by the huge malt and tamed hoppiness of both brews seemingly showcasing such new, juicy hops.

It's very nicely balanced but, alas, it's nothing new...I fear to try Chillwave this year at this rate!

What do you guys think of these new IPAs?

I thought Hop By Numbers was solid, but nothing crazy or flashy.. it seemed similar to a "Red IPA" imo.. I thought it had a ton of hop bitterness though at 80 IBU.. it was ultimately well crafted and enjoyable stuff, but nothing I'll be dreaming about.. I haven't tried the session IPA yet, but probably will tomorrow..

Even if the two ipas are only "OK" this pack is still a buy just to get the Kolsch and Holy Moses wit.
