When we were there, didn't the bartender mention they put some Pere Jaques into a used Rare barrel? I would imagine no bottles of course, but it might be something we see at FoBAB or some other fest. Of course I could just be making this up. I drank quite a bit that day. :grinning:

Nope, that was me. It's called Pere Winkle. Maybe it will show up at Belgianfest?

Ah. For some reason I thought they were the Rare barrels. Thanks!

The last batch of La Roja that I had with a more prominent bourbon flavor was confirmed to have been stored in Backwoods Bastard barrels. No I could not taste the previous beer in La Roja but there were characteristics which were easily associated with the former.

Did anybody else get excited when they saw this thread and thought they might have been selling these to the public?

It was a bit underwhelming to me last year at Belgian Fest.

I didn't take notes and we were all pretty good into our tasting, but Dark Dark Goose was a pretty big let down to us. We were all looking forward to it and it really fell short. We did open up a Sleeping Giant though, sold the same day as Dark Dark, and that was amazingly good. Should have ordered less DDG, more Sleeping.

Next should be 312. We haven't really seen a wheat whale or instant whale yet, and what better place to start than KH or CR barrels?

It's because you're really quite an amateur. Take more notes, though. And DDG, can we really use that again?

Hah I doubt it, I just was tired of typing it out 3 times. Everyone knows you cannot abbreviate meads.
