It will probably be $9-11 by the time it hits Iowa shelves since we tend to pay more than MN ($18 for Todd 4pks down here) which is unfortunate but based on what Hy-Vee is doing with growler sales now I am hoping for some more reasonable if not downright aggressive prices on fills at grocery stores, and Surly's half barrel kegs will help with that.

i agree if it was 6.99 they might have to add the term "Lite or Light" to it which would make me wonder if they have sold their soul..

Pretty sure they already have... to Satan. Or sometimes it feels like that is what they want you to think.

Most of the other guys have gone that route i wouldn't be shocked it Surly renamed themselves.. Coors Surly or Bud Surly.. or even Constellations Surly

This is the ultimate softball/summer/boat beer. Now I can drink all day for tournaments and not worry about getting killed by 300 lb beasts when I pitch haha... Bye, Coors Light; you served your purpose enough already. Also, so far I heard it will be on tap at Bulldog NE, Mckenzie's, & Happy Gnome if not already for the first 'teaser' run this weekend (I'm out of town, so can't confirm).

I can confirm it was on at Bulldog NE last night. I was drinking BA Darkness instead so I didn't get a chance to try it.

Do you think Surly would ever consider 6pks of 12oz cans? Some of their lighter beer (such as this) may sell better in that format.

Nope, the pint cans are apart of their marketing and who they are. Doubt that will ever change.

I get that the 16oz cans are their thing, but I hate that format. I buy their special beers sometimes (Wet, Abrasive, Todd), but I never really consider the others even though I like them.

    Not to mention more profitable.

I agree on all points. If I spend that much, I like to have 6 chances at drinking. I can hardly share 1when I only have 4.
Maybe if they sold in 8 packs at a slight discount.
    Imagine a 12 pack at $45!

I see stacks and stacks of old Furious, Bender, Bitter, and Overrated just sitting at stores. I suppose if some of the beer sits on the shelf over a year...one would hope they rethink their marketing. I do enjoy the beer, just not enough to justify the price and format of some of their offerings.

Well, I see plenty of six pack 12oz beers sit on the shelf too. It is not like it is a unique problem to Surly and I don't think a format change is going to make a difference.

There was a canning run on 3/17. So probably another month.

Does anyone who got to try the draft so far care to chime in with their thoughts on this beer?
