Pittsburgh - New Beers & Local Breweries

Anybody that is in eastern suburbs I just talked to Erich at Dads pub and grub and he is down for a share! If we can coordinate a Monday he could join and maybe show up for happy hour and share towards end? It just seems it's hard to find good meets comparing my travels!

 

First weekend in April is bad for me as well. March 19th might could work. Anyone else?

Or maybe June, but I can't do April date. For Spoonwood.

 

Tomorrow Apis meadery is hosting a homebrew comp that ties in with PCBW. The contest is amongst 35 local home brewers, and 50 of the public attendants will be judging the beer. The top three will be judged by Brewers and the winner will brew at the commercial scale for PCBW. I imagine there are a few people in this thread that are attending or brewing, but it should be a really fun, free event with lots of decent beer. The event runs from 12-4 at Apis. I'll be pouring my Habañero Hefeweizen named "Booty Sweat" if you care to support me. Look forward to meeting some of you there!

Had my first crowler from Als of Hampden. Sunny side up. Nice coffee stout. Would like to see more of these crowler machines which seem very simplistic. The machine looks like a 2 stage can opener. Am I mistaken on this assessment?

Agree that they are pretty sweet. Especially advantageous at a place like Pizza Boy, where there are 25+ house beerz on and considering their sample/flight policy from hell. Smash and grab job for three crolwers on my way through is better than betting on a growler.

Not sure where you are located, but these are starting to pop up more frequently. Couple in Pittsburgh over the past year or so.

 

Im in Washington county. Barfly, I see your name pop up on untappd every once in a while. Are you a Washpaw also?

 

Haven't sold anything. I've been in talks with a few trades, but just not comfortable trading too much away since I haven't been able to try manbearpig (obviously) or a barrel aged version of Black magick yet. I worked one trade out sending one BMagick out for a FB Morning Wood +BA Calico Jack. Felt that was fair... Heard great things about Morning Wood. Plan on sending a good friend a few of them in a box with other beers since always hooks me up with Hardywoods BA GBS set around the holidays. Other than that, I'm probably not doing much else right now. Cheers
