Hunahpu Day 2016

How will the crowds/chaos be at the tasting room and brewpub in the days leading up to Huna Day? I'll be in town for a long weekend, but attending the big shindig is not in the cards.

 

It'll be busier than usual but with so many events going on in the area, the crowds should be spread out a bit.

 

Yep, I was in there at points the Wed - Fri last year and definitely busier than normal. The earlier you arrive in the day, the better chance to get a seat at the bar. They did have a better than normal tap list going during that time too.

 

We were there Thursday evening last year and it was not that bad. The best time though was the day after for the Heady cans.

 

Agree with @Mangbus, @GeorgiaKiwi and @darkwing1. Also, the addition of the finished-out Funkatorium (the room through the double glass doors just before the growler bar) provides more room to spread out. You'll get beers, for sure.

Plus, you know, all the competitive traders are gonna be loitering at Cycle all day every day next week anyway ...

 

Not that my opinion counts worth a damn. But I've had that beer quite a bit, and I'll have a hard time not going there first now that I've seen this. It's become my favorite cake variant, and maybe my favorite beer that they make.

 

It really depends on what over events are occurring. But it is definitely very busy during the daytime hours, especially when the other breweries are not open (since CCB opens at 11am) or there are no events happening yet (since most events are late afternoon/evening). Last year, there was a much larger crowd when I stopped in during the day on Thursday than there was for the CCB/Sierra Nevada Barrel Aged Night event on the Wednesday. There were empty seats at the bar and in the tasting room during the event (which was an amazing event that had 6 or 7 BA beer on) because so many people were at Cigar City Cider and Mead for the Funky Buddha Tampa launch event.

So, it really just depends on luck.

I agree that the day after Hunahpu is a good day for the tasting room if you don't want to go to either of the Hunahpu Hangover events that 7venth Sun is having
