What's up Sunday friends!! Sorry I missed yous last week, life got in the way and this week, I've been on my death bed. The worst flu of my life made its way around work. This shit I wish upon no one!! So having no beers all week I feel today would be a waste as well (since I'm so congested I can't taste a thing). Here's to y'all enjoy your sundays

I have this phrase I actually like to call the Tired Hands model of brewing. It's one where if I were to go visit say every 45 days and check the tap list, it would all be different with maybe the exception of one or two beers.

Core line up seems to be small, with lots of fun experimentation. All fun and good, the only thing that sucks is that if you find some one-off you REALLY like and go back for it... it's vanishes into the air never to be seen again :slight_frown:

    Oh well...

New American Imperial Stout Sunday (week 576)

Greeting fellow NBSers from on the ridge in Mid Hud Val NY. Nutty day at work trying to keep up with the surge of recyclables, but at least the weather was magnificent. Very thirsty, and wish I could hang, but have errands of mercy to do, and places to be. This tasterful of beer will have to suffice for a while.

If you like jammy raspberry and dark chocolate this beer is gonna be in your wheelhouse. It's a simple but delicious taste that is all about the raspberry dark chocolate combination in a great way. Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

Time to make the IPA switch. Going with Mosaic from Terrapin.

Dark orange? Ruby? Either way, crystal clear. Fairly thick beige head to start, relaxing into about a quarter inch with generous and sticky lacing.

Nose is malty sweet to begin with a decent tropical overlay, like sweet mango.

Taste doesn't vary from nose much, as mango fading to grapefruit is what's going on here with only a touch of that sweetness that was so present in the nose.

Mouthfeel is fairly thin. Finish is mainly dry with just a bit of sweetness lingering on the tongue.

Not bad but I still prefer Athens, Ohio to Athens, GA when it comes to beer. Sorry, REM.

But as I commented it does appear that 'popular' beers are now being re-produced on a rotating basis. You are by no means guaranteed that your 45 day visit cycle will match with a preferred rotation beer but you might get lucky. My guess is that the beers that are re-produced are the ones that the customers most 'shout out' for (read: hoppy beers).

The fact that they have two locations (Cafe & Fermentaria) also expands the draft list. Right now between the two locations they have 17 unique beers on tap so with that increased number of unique taps the probability of a re-produced beer increases. For example at the Fermantaria they have Alien Church on tap and that is a re-produced beer.

    Hello NBSers,
Back for another round and another couple new beers for me . This week has been pretty easy on my end a couple random errands but nothing major. This is probably the first week where I've come to enjoy my layoff. No work has given me a nice bit of temporary free time which is always good for this hobby :grinning:.

Yesterday I was in Ontario where my uncle was doing my taxes lol. Anyways I decided to stop into the Local liquor store (like the rest of Canada except Alberta government owned) and Check out their craft beer section and what do I come across, none other than Dragon's Milk. I had wanted to try this beer for a while and love BBA stouts. It is absolutely fantastic. I'll let my review do the talking. Cheers!

Appearance - This beer looks pretty black with some dark amber hues when it hits the light, It poured with half a finger of head which Is about what I would expect at 11% and it faded leaving a nice moca ring around the top which is being replenished by some pretty active carbonation.

Aroma - Dark chocolate, coffee, some dark fruits, Oak, tons of Vanilla, and a bit of caramel. this smells delicious.

Taste - Vanilla dominates the flavor I get Vanilla, Vanilla and more Vanilla  ok I'll get serious. Vanilla is everywhere followed closely by creamy chocolate, figs, and oak, you taste the oak in the back of your mouth through the full swallow. This is one of the most balanced barrel aged beers I have tried.

Feel - This is a very thin Imperial stout I'd say its medium light with creamy carbonation making it very easy drinking, There is some boozyness on the swallow but its not overwhelming.

Overall - Maybe its the fact that I love BBA Stouts but this beer is absolutely fantastic. The flavors come together really well and create a very easy drinking stout. The vanilla is nice and balanced by the chocolate and the oak creating a flavor ripe with the barrel but unlike one I've tasted until now. This is probably the best year round BA stout I've had. good job New holland

New Stone Beer Sunday (Part 2)

    Stone Pataskala Red-X IPA
    [IMG]
    Bottled 2/2/16

This poured a bit darker than I anticipated, but when held up to the light, it still has a nice deep red color (Ill go with crimson, as the bottle suggests). The aroma is an awesome melding of malt and hops that comes across as fruit punch-like, with components of tropical and berry. The taste brings that same flavor to the palate, but that malt brings the perfect amount of sweetness to the aggressive hops. Them finish is semi-dry and bitter, but just a enough of that malt fruitiness lingers to keep that awesome balance throughout. Stone nailed what they were aiming for here. This is everything I want in a red IPA.

    4.31/5

    Cheers again, NBS!

Woah Nelly a Farmhouse DIPA from Magnify Brewing in Fairfield NJ
Woah as in woah this is one great beer. Farmhouse IPA is a term I haven't before but it fits this beer well as would Imperial Saison. Poured from a 16oz can this brew is a golden color with a nice white head. The aroma is citrus and other fruits and mouthfeel is full. Woah Nelly is about the hops, Nelson Sauvin Hops and a lot of them. This beer comes alive in your mouth with a hop explosion and is simply delicious. This is by far my favorite new beer so far this year.
Magnify Brewing has only been open since last May. Their beers are brewery only or on tap. I've had about 10 of their beers and they are all very good to excellent. If you see them try them.

IPA theme for me today, too many IPA laying around that I've been meaning to drink. First up Yards Golden Hop IPA.

    Golden Hop IPA

    Yards Brewing Co.
    American IPA / 6.00% ABV

    3.96/5 rDev +1.8% | Avg: 3.89
    look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

12 oz bottle poure into a pint glass

A- A clear golden amber color with a three finger white head.

S- Some fruity hops, citrus, some pine and earthy spices, with a surprising amount of malt sweetness, but not too malty for the style, just maltier than a lot of the IPAs I've been drinking.

T- Nicely balanced, citrus with faint hints of the tropical fruits you get with mosiac, floral/piney finish, nice malt sweetness that gives this a nice balance.

    M- Smooth, light, crisp.

O- A tasty IPA, but not a stand out compared to the crazy hops IPAs out on he market. Very easy drinking. Heard someone compare it to Philadelphia Pale Ale and I feel it's a good comparison. If you are looking for something similar to Philadelphia Pale Ale with more alcohol, you're in luck.

Happy Sunday NBS players. A pretty nice day sunny day here on the island. Still has a slight chill in the air but really a first good look at the nice spring weather to come. Not doing to much at all and I'm keeping the beers on the lighter side today after getting into to it a tad heavy last night.

My new beer is a Kolsch from Brewer's Alley in MD. It checks in at 5% and I don't see anything to indicate a bottle date.

A nice golden pour with major clarity and fast carbonation. The nose is fruity with pale malts and slight hops and pretty average/below average in the floral department. The drinking starts off very dry with a nice clean finish. Nice flavor notes come out with pale malts, bread, and light fruity notes. I really get that sort of apple/pair flavor from it. A pretty light body on the mouth feel to still airy and crisp.

Overall, not the greatest Kolsch in the world but I really am enjoying it despite it's 81 ba score. I'm around a solid 3.5.

    New English Porter Sunday

Hello all! 40's and mostly sunday today here in Milwaukee. Today's brew is from Guinness - West Indies Porter. It's a nice, easy-drinking basic porter. It didn't "wow" me, but it's nice enough to be enjoyable enough. I scored the appearance a 4.25 and all other categories 3.75, resulting in a 3.78 - a bit higher than the current average of 3.68.

So to close out winter, we're closing out winter beers.

    Troegs Blizzard of Hops

Pale yellow with a touch of haze sits under a stark white and foamy, frothy head that delivers just a perfect amount of sticky lacing.

Nose is a battle between floral and grassy with a peppery and slightly sweet malty finish. All indications suggest nice balance.

Grassy prevails in a slightly tart swig that doesn't present as much balance as the nose suggested, but still a bit of complexity as the taste develops. The sweetness kicks in late and doesn't linger too long.

Finish is a touch greasy, no dryness either but rather some sweetness lingering around.

L-The beer pours a slightly hazy golden straw color. The head is white and a little over two fingers in height. Lacing is heavy.
S-The beer is dry hopped with Galaxy. The wonder smell of citrus hits your nose as soon as the can is popped. The beer smells so good I almost don't want to drink it.
T- Pithy citrus with a solid level of bitterness. Malt presence is very light. The beer is a display for the Galaxy hops.
F- Prickly carbonation keeps the mouthfeel on the lighter side of medium.
O- The nose is the highlight of this beer. While I enjoy the I wish the taste was up the the high standard set by the nose. Still if you like Galaxy hops you will like this beer.

    Pucker up, sour time!

Le Seul III from Une Année has an aroma or sour, berries, blackberries, with some tart apple and vinegar. Plenty of berry notes and sour lemon, oak and lightly funky. Finley carbonated, crisp, clean, refreshing and dry. Pretty tasty AWA, about a step down from Juliet.
