Seven Years on Beer Advocate

    I joined Beer Advocate on March 7th, 2009. Beer is one of my great passions, (along with baseball) and Beer Advocate is part of my daily existence.

    I am not a ticker. Despite drinking about 2 cases of beer a week for years and reviewing virtually every beer I drink for the 1st time, I have only reviewed 505 beers in 7 years. When I love a beer I drink it over and over. (I figured it out, only about 10% of my consumption is beer new to me)

    The biggest change in my beer drinking habits is that last fall I quietly, finally became a hop head: IPA's, APAs and DIPAs now make up the bulk of my consumption. I still drink plenty of other styles and really like Barleywines/ Old Ales, Imperial Stouts, Belgian beers of all types and have developed a taste for Sours and Gose.

    Reading the forums and reviews on Beer Advocate have enriched my knowledge of beer immensely. I really treasure the site and its' members. I am looking forward to being around for a long time.

    Cheers! In my 10 years on the site, my tastes changed greatly, too. It took awhile for me to like hops early on. Now I like and drink almost any style.

    I'm coming up on 10 years on the site as well... I can tell you my tastes have changed also, but I still like what I used to.
    I have learned a ton from all the people here.

    That means you drink roughly 7 beers per day? I admire your enthusiasm, but I think you need to worry a bit about your health. Cirrhosis is no laughing matter.

    I'm the same way. When I find a brew I like well...I'll continue to drink it on repeat. I need to review again...been slacking since I reviewed Natty Daddy. Cheers!

    Based on your style preferences, that is approximately 2000 calories per day consumed in beer alone. Enjoy your diabeetus.

    Congrats on your 7! I'm on a ticking tear lately, but I've tried 3/4's of everything worthwhile in my area, so it's about time to slowdown a bit, and enjoy what I know are my go to beers.

    My profile says May 2007, but wasn't there a major forum software change or something like that, that did not accurately reflect how long some of the older members have been here? I think I have been a member longer than that. For one thing I seem to remember when the first magazine issue hit. In fact I believe I subscribed to the physical copies starting with volume.

    I am thinking more like 2005 or earlier for me. Maybe not. Lol. My memory sucks.

    Cheers to you. And i dont see why people are trying to make jokes about how much you drink, and i mean that in a good way. Its your choice. If i could drink 2 cases a week i would too. I used to drink 7+ beers a night. Its not as bad as people think if its spaced out appropriately. And secondly calories? Lol. That doesnt mean diabetes. I take in almost triple the amount of calories "needed" a day and im (doctor noted) healthy. If OP wasnt even a little healthy you think he could drink that much?
