I am planning a trip to Arizona in April. Will be flying in and out of Phoenix, renting a car and driving to Sedona and the Grand Canyon.

Wondering if there are any must hit breweries in these areas and also what local bottles and cans should I be on the look out for. I am an ipa lover who ventures into stouts, saisons and some sours. Food and bar suggestions are also welcome.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

In Phoenix i would suggest going to Arizonia Wilderness, they produce tons of fantastic stuff.

If on the way to the Grand Canyon you go through Flagstaff, I'd say stop by Mother Road, Wanderlust, and Historic.

For cans that are worth picking up, try to get Dragoon's IPA. They only distribute as far north as phoenix so you can't get it in sedona. Also the mother road tower station IPA is another fantastic brew that you can pick up 4packs state wide.

Thanks for all the great info!

Are Dragoon's and Tower Station easily available, I won't really have time to visit multiple bottle shops chasing harder to find beer, just want something that I can pick up and take with me on our road trip?

For a bottle shop Tops liquor is located less than 10 minutes from the airport rental car location. That's probably your best bet unless you want to hit a place like Total Wine or Bevmo on your way out of town. Or, if you arrive after 12:00 you could hit Papago Brewing (also about 10 minutes from the airport), they have a great mix and match deal and it would be easy to go hit the 101 north from there to go up north from there. Up in Flagstaff the best bar IMHO is Hops on Birch and Lumberyard and Beaver Street for brew pubs, and Mother Road and Wanderlust for a breweries.

Thanks for the great suggestions, we will be in Phoenix for a couple of days so we will get around town a bit before we head north. I will keep a lookout for all of these beers.

I would also try to stop by Huss Brewery, Fate Brewery, and Wren House brewery if you get a chance. All are producing great beer and Huss is also canning.

If you get a chance, try to stop by Fate, Beer Research Institute, Huss and Wren House as well. All are producing some really good beer and Huss is also canning.

What about bottle shops in the Scottsdale area or North Scottsdale? We are coming in this weekend and while my wife is at the spa I will be looking for some good beers to bring over to a friend's place and then also take up to Sedona.

Best bottle shop in Scottsdale is Papago Brewing. Your best option for a shop up north is Whole Foods.
