Prob not good since they have said there will be 10 different variants. I'd guess there won't be more vanilla made then past few years.

How many tickets were actually sold? If 10,000 that means the same number of bottles of variants. That's quite a step up from previous years (in terms of variant bottles). Here's hoping the quality is still there...

Maybe they made a bit more? I don't know...I'd guess they'd rather take a shot at finding the "next" Vanilla DL. Hence the 10 variants

True, but last year they had 8 variants and I'd guess only 25-30% of the attendees actually got a variant.

This is what I have been trying to figure out.. No GA tickets this year, I am really curious how many tickets they sold. I bet it will be like 2013, 3,000 tickets-ish. Thoughts?

Way more. I'd guess similar to last year so around 10K, plus or minus 2K.

You realize that last year is irrelevant right? Not everyone in Group A last year (or any other year) got a BA variant. This year everyone gets one. I doubt they will post bottle counts beforehand but an even distribution of 10 variants means Group A isn't guaranteed a Vanilla. I have Group A and would love a vanilla but I've also had it a few times so maybe they have some crazy ass Double Barrel Fuck It variant this time.

Double Barrel would mean FFF messing with Rum barrels or something else- like white wine barrels!

We all know how that has gone in the past...

I know Vanilla is the White Whale of the group, but last year Cognac Coffee was phenomenal too. We side-by-sided it at a tasting with the BVDL, and most people liked it better than the vanilla. Unless you're planning on trading the BVDL for half of someone's cellar, don't fret on the variants. Most of them are great!

For those that were able to purchase tickets this past weekend, where's everyone staying?

We're booked at the Red Roof in Merrillville this year, but last year ended up staying in Lansing, IL.

I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last year in Schererville, it was great! One thing to note, local taxi service is slow as hell during DLD so call a taxi early if you are staying in Schererville and they will probably charge you by the person. I am flying in this year so I will be staying in Chicago and taking the shuttle into the event (from Jaks in Chicago). The Hampton Inn is always booked months before the event..

Any issues with water leaking? Seems like most people of Amazon like it.

People keep saying this and that's not necessarily true. I believe they allot the same amount to each group. Last year I got a Vanilla in group C, as well as the year before.

the only thing we know is that this year the variants are FCFS. So I highly suspect they will run out of Vanilla before Group B sales start UNLESS they divide up the variants between group numbers....so like 200 Vanilla for each group. I'm guessing, though, that it'll be the former and it's a true FCFS situation.

Last year, I was told that they were out of Vanilla - I was within the first 10-15 people in Group C....Didn't get the impression that it had just ran out ahead of me.

I will be staying there as well, I assume there will be a bottle share in the lobby the night before again this year?

I dunno what to tell you....I definitely wasn't one of the first in C and I got one. If you scroll back to past pages and posts, others have said the same.

Let's be honest, each year FFF does something a little different and they do it however they want. Inevitably there will always be people that complain, so they can only make so many people happy.
