Right but isn't that why people are suggesting only having proxies for certain releases?

That's reasonable. I'm all for HPB allowing proxies to move product that tends to sell slower.

Same here. I actually prefer to visit HPB when there's not a special event happening so I almost never make it out on release day. I know I miss out on special beers, but at least I get to relax at my own pace.

Yup. I like/prefer when it's chill. This Friday will be my first release day visit. Looking forward to it.

I think the real question is how do you know when it'll be a slower moving bottle sale? Raised Eyebrows B2, for example lasted all the way till release date without selling, while B1 sold out in 40 minutes. Sure, they sold out on release day when they put a 2 bottle per limit on it for walk ins. They did about double the amount in bottles from batch to batch, but still Lazy Susan had similar bottling size for B2 as well and sold out in minutes.

Without proxies, I can't imagine how much more of Raised Eyebrows would have stayed in inventory to take up space as unsold beer in the back.

I do like release day visits, but then again I like my random Monday or Wednesday visits as well. I try not to go on Saturday nights because that place is popping then. But well worth it for the goodies they put up on a Friday afternoon release day.

    How about this (brainstorming here):
Day 1 of release - no proxies allowed
Day 2 and beyond - allow proxies

Yeah, it's confusing enough. There's no real proxy option via Eventbrite that I can tell. Thus the instructions being simply emailing them before hand.

Actually there must be a proxy thing since Alesmith had it at checkout for this past release.

Holy Smokes!! The enthusiasm for our beers (for better or worse) is something you can only hope for!

Our goal has always been to try and make delicious beer and get that beer into peoples hands that appreciate it. We are a young company and without a doubt will adapt to increased growth and demand. I always say I'm a consumer first and foremost, thus want to create an experience from the consumers standpoint. We limited the amount of proxies for this release for the first time ever, but obviously it wasn't enough. We'll assess style of beer (fruited, sour, etc.) and bottle counts to try and make the right decision for you all in the future. Lots of great feedback and ideas on here to better the process. Thanks!

Thanks again for all the love and enthusiasm!

    Cheers, Bob

You're doing some very good things! It is a great thing when all the bottles sell out in secs.
Also allowing the proxies gives more of a chance of your beer getting recognition throughout the states, rather than only via trade. Overall that's a better thing for your company - creating a greater demand.

I'm looking forward to the release this month.

The reality is that for a brewery this awesome with such low capacity there was always going to come a day when the demand grew to far outstrip the supply and when that happened people were gonna be pissed.

You're the best and I'm sorry I'm no longer living in walking distance of your brewery.

Never seen anything like that either. Don't buy many bottles at Bevmo... but when I have, they don't gouge... and if you want some XIX let me know @the_trystero
