Had Bon Bon 2xTNT a few months back - excellent! Nice hop peppery bite. I just picked up Billy Fullstack on Friday but passed on Laughter for now. I'm digging SingleCut so far!

Just to illustrate the difference between NYC and the rest of the world, I purchased a 4 pack of 16 oz. cans of Lizard King in downtown Denver for $11.49 or $2.87/16 oz. Quite a difference and hopefully you see what I was referring to about NYC prices.

Yes I was disappointed with their move from a predominantly lager focused brewery to now making a lot of ipas. I remember asking when they opened why so many lagers (i was in a heavy ipa phase) and was told the owner likes lagers and it's an untapped market locally so they wanted to focus on that. This was early in the NYC higher end craft scene before OH and Grimm existed and only locals knew about Barrier. I imagine after a few years of modest attention they saw what's happening with IPA hype and changed course. I personally do not like their ipas that much - either juicy style or NZ hops, little malt so way too dry. I wish they would expand with more regular styles but as proved by this site, ppl pay little attention if you put out anything that's not of the big 3 styles.

Yes, per can. At Half Time you can buy singles of everything. You just can't bust apart 12 packs.

Yup. Been there. Done that. Same thing at DeCicco's. It's a great way to try new beers.

And not get stuck with five more beers that you really don't care for. I have a real hard time buying a six pack of something I've never tried, especially at todays prices. Can't remember the last time I have. I don't understand why more stores aren't like this. I've been in shops and see stuff I want to try, but I'm not going to go out on limb and buy a whole six pack of it. I don't mind taking a chance on mixed pack though, but this is a subject for another thread.

Singlecut is the shit... But ive been kind of keeping how much of theirs i buy to a minimum until they start doing cans (which was supposed to have happened last summer)...the price for the 16.9 oz bottles are a little high for me

Just picked up a bottle for $7.99 in PA. Thought it was a bomber, and $7.99 for a bomber here is practically free. Only later realized it's 16.9oz, but still isn't crazy expensive in comparison to what in-demand beers go for here (unfortunately). I gotta start homebrewing again or something.

Single Cut is terrible and overpriced, please remove this thread...

It's not cheap no, I think most of us accept that. It's been covered before, but I actually don't mind their pricing. If it were cheaper, you are not going to walk into Whole Foods and even have that option to buy it. As for some of the comparisons, some of the usuals (Half Stack, Full Stack, Bon Bon) are at a different level. If you have a Lizard King (or some kind of vs. Unicorn or BP Sculpin) and think thats the same level as any of the aforementioned SC brews I will vehemently disagree and I am sure many others would also.

I wouldn't say they moved away from lagers, just that they've found other things to focus on. I'd be surprised if they decide to bottle their flagship lager as they've done their IPAs.

Singlecut is awesome. I tend to stick to drinking it on draft due to prices - OH and Grimm are cheaper per ounce to drink at home, but the same price at bars - but they still make some of the best IPAs in the city. I'm sure if they canned their prices would be more competitive.

Just had Is This The Real Life? from a growler last week - another IPA that was really good. My review is here: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30452/176446/?ba=Kendo ). . . . They make it to Albany regularly, and while the price point is a little on the high side, it is a NYC brewery (with higher rents, costs, etc.) and the beer is generally quite good (and fresh).

To be fair that's on par with most breweries... in NYC or otherwise.

Add me to those who are a fan of Mo' Shuggie Soulbender IPA and it's little sibling Mini Soulbender.

how far a train ride is it from Williamsburg to Singlecut? I'm flying in on Wed and originally didn't have Singlecut on my radar but maybe now I'll try to carve out some time if it's not too far

Other Half and Grimm are cheaper to drink at home if you don't factor in "time=money." (I suspect for most people at least.) If I want a Singlecut beer, I just go to the store and buy it. Why are you sure that canning would make them cheaper?
