That's great - let the beer speak for itself. It's a sign of confidence on behalf of the brewery imo.

I notice a number of aberrations that have come from the United States....

    Rampant overuse use of emoticons.

Poor spelling (not something that Americans can really "take credit" for, although we do wave the flag!).

And the worst of the three, by far: Sugary cereal with complete lack of nutritional benefit that's marketed to children. This is the only one of the three that's criminal.

There's quite a few beers in the States that have simple labels, though.

A sure sign of an overcrowded market and some serious culling about to go down.

Can we re title this thread?

"American Goes to Europe and Discovers Beer"

May as well tell us what else we should be embarrassed about. America is doing it wrong. We need the help of fellow Americans who are doing a tour. :stuck_out_tongue::grimacing::flushed::astonished::slight_smile:
    Thanks Dude.

there is going to be bursting of the craft beer bubble, that's a certainty.

Anything that booms will pop - like shale oil and the housing market.

As long as there are customers who base their purchase decisions on impulse and packaging that attracts their eye or that they think is clever (and there are a lot of them even on this site), we'll continue to see this stuff.

Eh, it's all in good fun. Beer is fun. Nothing wrong with getting a little goofy with an, overall, harmless aspect of beer.

If I ever get to the point that I'm bothered by packaging, I will officially be taking beer too seriously.

I mean, this package is still light years better than The Brown Note from Against The Grain. And there's still this, which isn't even American:

Worst part is the bastards couldn't just stop with children. Now they've upped the ante in a completely nefarious way: marketing sugary cereal and beer together to kill adults!

I agree...the market is so flooded with bullshit breweries that absolutely suck but since the "craft beer bubble" has yet to burst, breweries are resorting to gimmicky things.

I personally say, if they are having fun, why should I care...beer is supposed to be fun. If they know their product is mediocre and they are just doing whatever they can to get attention, again...why should I care, the beer community will HOPEFULLY smarten up and the BS breweries will eventually get flushed out.

Either way, this was a fun thread and I enjoyed reading all of your thoughts and opinions!

    Now that is funny.

And this talk of the craft bubble, oversaturation, gimmicks...

Let me tell you youngsters about the great brewery bust of the mid 90s. When every dentist/lawyer/real estate agent had money to burn and invested in micro breweries. This has happened before and it wasn't pretty. Much needed though. And the market is much better educated too.

There is apparently only so much Strawberry Peach Wheat Ale the market will tolerate.
    Cheers.
