I'm so embarrassed that the US has spawned this aberration

I think it's something else altogether...

You are right of course - but living for the last few years outside of the US has given me a different way of looking at somethings.

Citing you example above; WHY does the GINORMUASS ASS BLOWER STOUT appeal to the majority of American beer buyers - as opposed to Sierra Nevada Porter? Why do we tend to go for the lowest common denominator and does it have to be that way?

"For example" is typically used to preface typical situations. Your hypothetical scenario is hypothetical. In fact, I would argue that Sierra Nevada Porter far outsells GINORMUASS ASS BLOWER STOUT in every market where they compete.

It doesn't. Bud Light does. This is just a small space on a shelf that's looking to sell everything it can from that space. Someone had an idea, they're seeing if it sticks. Your posting of the thread, even if in jest, possibly has someone now checking out the beer IF even in jest still. They just created some talk about their product.

As much as you hate it YOU just fell for it.

Why do people care if the beer is gimmicky. I personally have no problem with beers like this as long as they're good.

I love cereal. I love cartoons. I would enjoy drinking this beer. I apologize to Europeans for nothing. That's "apologize" with a "z."

So where would flavorful beer and its rise in popularity over the last 5-6 years be if this were the accurate? How would it be the case that there are so many more different choices of quality breads in supermarkets or small bakeries than there used to be (even to the point that some are baked fresh on the premises or brought in on a daily basis) or how is it that there so many different choices of "artisanal" cheeses in local stores and cheese shops?

How long until Craft Beer(tm) gets to this point?

Vortex necks give 34% more WOW(tm)!

In my personal opinion, I don't think the "no" mishap with the up for whatever campaign didn't do a thing to hurt Bud Light besides create a mild embarrassment. 99% of people either never realized the bottle ever happened or have already forgotten about it. Like most things, 30 seconds after AB published an apology and pulled the bottles, a Kardashian did something stupid or a new TV show with rednecks came out and gave people something new to occupy themselves.

I think that Edsel and New Coke were simply new products that didn't take off for one reason or another (beer examples of this could be Miller Fortune, Beck's Sapphire, Hardcore Apple Cider, etc.) which entered the market and maybe didn't have good marketing, maybe had crappy product that nobody wanted, maybe they were late to a fad or maybe they came out with something too early.

Sometimes the users on this site get way too serious. Ultimately what's on the inside will determine if this is a good product or not. It's definitely gonna catch your eyesight as your browsing though!

I've learned life is easier and much more enjoyable if you only allocate so many fucks to give each day. I'm certainly not going to waste giving a fuck over being upset about a beer with cereal in its wax, lol.

That's great advice. I think it was Thomas Jefferson that said, "Behold the field in which I grow my fucks. Lay thine eyes upon it and thou shalt see that it is barren." Words to live by.

I can't wait until Saturday AM. This beer will go great with the last pack of Joe Camels that I have in the freezer!
