I'm so embarrassed that the US has spawned this aberration

But that's reinforcing my point that it can't be all "just marketing." The say "No" campaign produced visible push back, and forced a change in the Bud Light marketing strategy which enabled it to be "forgotten" in the moment, and for some reason or another the Edsel and New Coke didn't take off despite the fact that they had good or best marketing talent and lots of money behind marketing them. If marketing were all that mattered there wouldn't be such failures to point to and analyze as to what went wrong and how not to make that mistake again.

There's no denying this is really stupid, but with all due respect to the op, it's really not that big of a deal. The people who know better will shake their head and keep walking, others may chuckle and buy it as a conversation piece. It might even be pretty good, who knows. The point is we don't have to be embarrassed as a nation that it exists. Little too dramatic.

I no longer buy beer with silly names or idiotic descriptions. This does mean I'm missing out on some of the most fashionable, American inspired beer, but...

I personally like the less flashy approaches to marketing out there for beer so I definitely see where the OG poster is coming from.

You'd miss out on lots of English beer that has nothing to do with American trends too.

Well, I would suggest that all English beer with stupid labels, names, descriptions would not be here without America. They all follow America, or copy British breweries that have been inspired by American breweries (Brewdog were the first or one of the first).

Of course I should qualify the above...there is old fashioned silliness on many British labels, but the contemporary attempt to be 'cool', to appeal to, er, people who, er...Anyway, it's all a bit alien to me...And I don't buy the beer. In fact I've stopped buying beer from breweries less than twenty-five years old, just to be on the safe side...

While I appreciate the insight, inferences, and observations of folks in this thread, I think the key thing about this beer's bottling appearance needs to be addressed. How wasted were the folks who thought of this, and were they drinking the beer in that awful bottle, smoking crack, or doing acid?

I think your first line above is probably way off, but I think you got my drift between your posts. Maybe you're just thinking of a very specific kind of "stupid." Frank Zappa might have said, "There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life." If I fly over, we can open a Cornish Knocker or Fox's Nob and contemplate their shelf life further.
