I'm so embarrassed that the US has spawned this aberration

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested. I like "weird" beer though. Probably the only person I know, that enjoyed Rogue's Maple Bacon Porter.

I agree the packaging is crass but i'd give it a try before completely dismissing it.

I would gladly try this. Marketing is marketing. The only way marketing would prevent me from trying a beer, or anything, was if it was INCREDIBLY offensive, and I find very little offensive.

I have a friend who drinks nothing but Bud and another who drinks nothing but Michelob original. I would give you 10 - 1 odds and bet every dollar I have that not only could both identify instantly which is their beer, but if given a choice between a fresh and slightly old one they could pick that one too. I am this confident because I have seen them do it. Not so sure I would put that money on myself to do the same thing.

Had to have been weed. No way on earth that this idea was conceived sans benefit of "munchies".

I understand that the OP started this as an America Sucks thread, and this is somewhat tangentially related to the overall thread, but...last year at TAP NY, Keegan Ales did an entire cereal series. They had a Trix, a Cocoa Puffs, and a Cinnamon Toast Crunch. And actually, they were pretty darn close to those. The Trix tasted like Trix. The Cocoa Puffs tasted like Cocoa Puffs. The snozzberries tasted like snozzberries. I'll leave it up to you if those are flavors you want in your beers, but they were pretty...interesting.

I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't know, but you do realize they were counting on someone posting pictures of this and talking about how goofy and stupid it is right? I just looked at their website, and I probably would have gone my whole life never knowing they existed otherwise. This thread is mission accomplished from their perspective.

I can see why this might make a lot of people cringe, and maybe this is the reason why the terrorists hate our freedom. I personally think that the bottle is hilarious and very clever. In my mind it's poking fun at the wax dipped bottle idea, that usually indicates something special and rare, and can give off a feeling of pretentiousness. But they've got froot loops stuck to the sides of the wax! I see it as pure satire.

Also, just look at all the attention its drawn on this site in less than a day. If nothing else, their product stands out.

If I'm ever in your part of New York, I'd take your bet on the Bud guy if the bet was structured like this:

Blind taste, 3 opaque glasses, 1 Bud, 1 Coors and 1 MGD, all provided by me.

Here's why this bet works for me. If I had you a new beer and an old beer, it's pretty easy to taste the differences with age between the two. Also, if you have a side by side of just Bud and Coors, you have 50% odds of just picking the right one. However, when you add a third similar beer to the mix it really causes confusion. I've made this bet (usually it's Bud Light, Miller Lite and Bud Select where available) and offered pretty healthy odds about 20 times in different bars. So far, I've never paid out.

Michelob Original would be a bit harder, since there aren't as many very similar liquids. I'll have to ponder what would be close enough to try and fool the expert...

Years ago, I did a homebrew Irish red ale with lucky charms and it came out very good. Also did a s'mores beer before they were a thing (this one wasn't as successful). Guess I was ahead of the game :stuck_out_tongue:

I would gladly take this bet, I've done it multiple times with a lineup of BL, CL, ML and Ultra and can pick each of them every single time.

If you look at this packaging, it is reminiscent of 3 Floyds Behemoth...IMO of course.

Neither are experts, just folks who always drink the exact same brand of beer through whatever changes they have gone through for the 25 years I have known them, despite many friends in the group like me who drink fine beer, and used to try to get them on board too.

And re: the chicken feather beer pictured above, Kentucky Ryed Chicken. That bottle was stupid, and the beer in it was delicious I must say.
