Brewing with Pine (or Fir) Needles?

    So it's been a few months and I wanted to post the conclusion. Oh god, so much pine flavor. It's pretty much undrinkable.

    I think there are some bones to the recipe, but if I did it again I would cut the amount of needles down to about 25% of what I used. Maybe less than that.

    Thanks for the update.

    I'll have to look for an accommodating spruce tree and nab a little new growth for a one or two gallon experiment. Maybe two, with on having more and the other less spruce in it.

    You could probably get away with more if you were doing a more bitter beer, but the pine flavor completely dominated the Belgian White that I put it in.

    I would try them in a dark beer in any event.
