I'm guessing they aren't doing BPT / Eventbrite?

I believe they tried this for one release... and then swore off due to a minor technical issue?

What was the issue? - it didn't trend on twitter and instagram?

They messed up when they used BPT and had it set to PayPal and it blocked payments after a certain threshold. They should still use either service or even call in our buds Nextel.

    But what do I know?

For whatever reason, they had too many issues with BPT and don't seem to have any interest with online sales at this time.

Man I hope bottle count is good and limits are reasonable. Darkstar lasted pretty decent, but this has coffee..

The problems they had with bpt was that for a brewery that rides that Nikola Tesla image of science and discovery, they're pretty in the dark when it comes to technology. Both times it was their own fault for screwing up the online sales information or the payment method being switched to Paypal due to trying to save a few bucks from the fee to the service.

They claimed they couldn't do it unless it was some sort of event, but like MT and most other spots do it, they just needed to mess around with the settings to make it seem like a pick up "event". It's also a matter that they don't get the money freed up to them until the sales are closed, or something like that, which they didn't like.

It still amazes me that breweries use paypal instead of actual credit card companies/readers. Even with a fee, not like breweries have any qualms with raising the price of beer to cover all areas of cost.

Pretty much all this, adding an additional $1.50 or whatever to beer cost isn't going to upset people if it allows them online purchasing. I'm sure it makes sales / pick-up easier as well for a brewery since you wouldn't have a throng of unruly neck beards banging at the doors for a sip of some sweet sweet nectar.

Why would they use bpt? Then they wouldn't be able to gloat with sh*tshow pictures on their IG...

Perhaps they should contact Alesmith to figure out how to use BPT/Eventbrite, they have been using it for years with no problems.

    THIS!

I've been to multiple of their releases since FO (God this year's FO release will be a nightmare), and even though they've gotten a LITTLE better over time, it still makes no sense to force people to line up for 1-3 hours (minimum) in order to buy bottles when they should just sit down for 20 minutes and figure out how BPT/PaPal/other online systems work. The mid-week releases have been a little more mellow since most people work, but I can easily see this Sunday release being being just... Stupid. If they are going to do in person only, it should be a one bottle limit, they should get a permanent ink stamp that wont come off immediately unless you wash it until you bleed, and not let anyone "share" credit cards. That would make it as fair as "possible."

I could see the argument that in-person sales lead to higher in house draft sales, however I've sat at the bar at several of these sales for a few hours drinking, cavorting, and watching the line. Usually people just grab their bottles and maybe one taster and leave, which is the same thing theyd do if they bought online, just without headaches for everyone involved. If you want sales to only go to "locals" as they claim, then you don't allow for proxies.

Just my two cents. Hopefully it'll still be of draft after I'm done at the Bruery event.

I don't even want to imagine, i showed up about 40 minutes prior and this year would have to be a couple hours minimum.
