The fact that you have to set expectations when it comes to these shares is sort of embarrassing (not for you, but for those who don't "get it."). I'm flying out from MA for my first DLD and I'll be bringing some bottles. I look forward to sharing them!

Last year was my first year so I was not sure what to expect. I had no where the knowledge I have now, especially with what to bring bottle wise. I brought 5 or 6 bottles (cannot remember what) and got in line with a friend around 7AM. We found a bunch of his buddies and started pouring. Some people in the group had whales, some had stuff like me (nothing super old). I remember someone pulling out a 2007 BCBS and everyone went nuts.

I was prepared for the weather as I have done a lot of hiking so everything I had on was waterproofed, just wished I had brought gloves as I could not feel my hands for the first 3 or 4 hours.

I remember people coming us to us left and right saying try this, and wow, you have that, mind if I try.

All you first timers, pace yourself if you get there early. One sip of beer, then one of water. I was dancing one point to one of the bands and have no recollection of it. Have fun and be careful!

I will probably start out again in the south line around 7AM with my group. Look for a skinny looking dweeb with very little hair and stop and say hi. Plenty of beer to share!

    Cheers!

Yeah someone with some initiative needs to start either a bottle share sheet and/or IP Trade sheet.

Here are some google docs from '15 maybe someone can leverage. Or create new ones.

    DLD bottle share sheet link
    DLD IP Trade sheet link

Credit to @JLWalker20 for the '15 IP Trade sheet which was pulled from this post.

    Who's gonna volunteer?

Regarding the IP trade file....I copied the format over from the 2015 tab over to "Sheet 4"

I don't see any reason to re-invent the wheel with this thing....unless @JLWalker20 shuts down his google drive account. If anyone else wants to post it to Reddit or RB, have at it

Edit: We can probably just delete the 2015 info, unless anyone has a burning desire to keep it

Damn, I feel like I'll miss out on all of it. I don't have a Google account, Reddit, Facebook, Instagram....

You must be over 50 then. I'm in my 40s and have google and Facebook...no clue or care how to use the other two

Ha! No, although sometimes I do feel like I'm 50. Just never had much interest in social networks (I have Untappd, does that count?).

Sounds like a plan. Will do.

Thanks. I renamed the tabs (2016 DLD). The 15 one is still there for reference although I can't figure out how to default to the '16 tab when opening it. If someone can figure that out please edit it or we can just hide the '15 sheet but I figured to leave it there as a reference to the format for the time being anyway. So there is the '16 DLD IP Trade sheet then if no one objects.

Here are @JLWalker20 tips on his new sheet for '16

    1. It is currently open to editing for anyone that has the link (this means you!) - this looks to be different than the way it was managed in the past. I have done this for a few reasons, described below.

    2. As the spreadsheet is open to editing by anyone, it's also open to screwing up or vandalism by anyone, but that's okay because I will be making/saving copies of it daily in case it needs repair/replacement. If it gets out of hand, I'll put it under lock and key and be the big bad spreadsheet babysitter.

    3. Because it's open to edit by anyone, you are able to add notes or change what you have FT/ISO at-will, so don't be shy about pulling stuff down from your lists if you have a trade setup for those bottles.

On the 2nd point, please don't abuse the ability to edit the document. I'll try to save off a version each day but I can't guarantee I will remember.

And here is a Bottle Share link I created based off that other one which was being deleted. Feel free to use it. Will try to save it daily as well for backups. Even added a Saturday Night tab in case people are feeling adventuresome. So everyone is free to use these or free to ignore them and create your own.

Updated the Bottle Share link to include a tab for those only sharing bottles during DLD itself. If someone has a base of operations outside the gates, staking claim to a table within the gates or just looking to share during one of the Group lines. Again feel free to use if one wants to. No harm either way.

I know this has probably been asked several times but I tried buying 2 tickets to Dark Lord Day right when they went on sale. I had Etix pulled up a half hour before the sale, had my computer hooked straight to my modem for the fastest connection, and had it pulled up on my phone. Time hit zero, page automaticity refreshed which seemed like it took forever for it to actually get to the sale page got caught up by the captcha some but I picked group A on my phone and best available on my laptop. Was put in queue for an hour on my Laptop and tried 3 or 4 times to get tickets on my phone after it said tickets were sold out in group A. After being in queue for an hour on my laptop it told me that tickets were sold out. With being ready as soon as the timer hit zero, how wasn't I able to get tickets?? This would be or would of been the first year going to Dark Lord Day for me and my wife. Does anyone know if there is a way we still could get 2 tickets. Any info would be appreciated, thanks. Also I know that tickets sell out within minutes for this event but I thought the $200 a ticket would of slowed it down more this year.

The Brewpub in Munster usually (in the past) has random onsite sales of tickets. Typically only announced maybe an hour in a advance if that.

Sorry you weren't able to get tickets. Craft Beer is still growing at an awesome, but sometimes alarming rate. The ones that the ticket cost did deter, was probably far overshadowed by those newcomers that wouldn't care about the cost, or found it entirely reasonable to spend for the festival, and bottles/food (as many seasoned veterans did).

As for a why you didn't get tickets... websites, network speeds, F5 reflexes... but mostly LUCK.

You should start a separate thread for bottle sharing and IP trading.

Personally I would not touch an unattended bottle. Mainly because I have seen first hand what people have done with bottles. ( Saw somebody pee in a VSB bottle, once it was empty, and set it on a table and walk off.) Usually, in my group anyway, we will all get our pours, and if anything is left we ask the people around us if they would like some until the bottle is empty. I don't know if there is a right or wrong way to do it.

Basically, just ask before you take anything that isn't yours. I would say 95% of the time the answer will be "yes."
