Maybe not as many tax dollars, but if you notice the description it says they will cease major retail operations from Monson, and the location will be used for special and private events.

Well, good for them. Maybe I could actually try one of their beers.

Wow.. that is massive output potential. Holy shit it's hard to imagine the beers will be the same.

Good for them! I'll be visiting this summer, so hopefully they stick to their plan of keeping the current place still operational

Ok.. I mean seriously? FW produced (according to Wikipedia so someone fact check if they have time) 151,000 barrels in 2014 for reference. If TH produced only 26,000 less.. thats just insane! That's so much beer!!! They would be be comparable in size to FW.. insane.

Seriously though, couldn't have happened to a better group of people. This will be a huge success.

I've seen it mentioned in threads how much money they must be making. Well, I guess this gives a good idea. They're BUYING, not leasing, 70 acres of land in Massachusetts, which must cost an insane amount of money, and they're building a massive facility, one of craft beer's largest. I'm very much looking forward to easily being able to try Tree House beers and in a beautiful tasting room/retail space to boot.

I don't think the quality of the beer will change. Hillfarm stead expanded and I think their quality remained the same

Awesome news, Tree House beers are some of the best in the country and this will bring Tree House traders down to earth and allow more folks to sample their excellent brews.

but with that size for distribution, they probably have to be looking outside of new england, I wonder how far they want to go

Realistically, however, they aren't just going to ramp up to FW output. They are building a facility that they can grow into as the continue to move forward, so that they don't have to look at another expasion investment in five years.

Yes. Of course. It was very clear that they weren't intending to suddenly produce 125,000 barrels. But, they are clearly open to it, which I am very surprised by. I had no reason to assume this, but I figured from what I saw they liked being a small brewery because it allowed them to have complete control of their product and how it was given to customers. But I don't think there is any brewery that produces even something like 50,000 barrels a year for onsite sales entirely. This really makes it seem as though they intend to distribute their product, which means that will be a different type of brewery entirely. Even at 30,000 a year. Thats quite the change. I worked for Epic Brewing for a while and the goal was to produce 30,000 a year when I was there between the Salt Lake location, the Denver location, and the small Salt Lake brewpub. They were distributing to 25 states at the time (give or take a few possibly) even when producing under 25k barrels a year. 30 is a game changer, 125 is a different league.

Sad to hear this. Tree house makes my favorite IPAs currently, I highly doubt they will be able to keep up with the current level of quality with such massive expansion. I hope I'm wrong, but Julius might soon go the way of Alpine Nelson.

Finally. Now we'll see how their beers really stack up against others, instead of having just a few privileged locals voting on it :grinning: Hope they take those beers accross the Atlantic.
