Obviously, I'll stop in at State Line in Elkton, but are there other shops I should visit? What is there to do in Rehobeth that will be fun for me and the lady? Looking for beer and non-beer related suggestions

My girlfriend and I stay in Rehoboth at least twice a year. The Pickled Pig pub on Route 1 is worth stopping at. Also, if you are going to the DFH pub on Rehoboth Ave, there are tons of great shops, restaurants, etc. within walking distance. Stop at the beach too, with the weather we've been having this year you should be fine.

Hopefully some locals can give you more specifics but it's always a fun time.

Went to the production brewery today and met Sam just chilling at the bar. He took a picture with me and signed a couple posters I bought. Such a nice guy!

If you are still in Rehoboth, I recommend stopping into Henlopen City Oyster House or Fin's for amazing food and beer. Also, be sure to stop into Atlantic Liquors and Cape Wine and Spirits. Both shops have an excellent selection.

I always gas up at the Wawa there on the way home to avoid the I95 toll... although you really wouldn't be passing thru Elkton between Philly and Rehoboth Beach.

ALSO: The flights and food at the DFH brew pub is totally worth it

Though not on the direct route back from DFH to Philly, it's close enough that it's worth stopping at. The DFH brewpub had great food and they had sample size portions(4 oz) of almost all their beers do that you could try almost all of the nearly 30 beers they had on tap without committing to full size pours.

Also shoutout to BeerThursday for helping me out with WOCAAW tickets.

Wow, I need to get back down there. I went to Rehoboth in early 2010 and the tap list was all beers that could easily be found in Philly. No pub exclusives or anything. It was cool and all to go, but I was disappointed. I just checked the list now and it's 100 times better.

I was there in late 2011 right before the beach closed and there was plenty of exclusive beers... even some experimental DFH liquor (gin IIRC)

At the brewpub last night we had at least 8 beers that were exclusive like Fungus Tea'mungus, Bricolage, Lil Hoppy, Diablo Verde, Black Lodge... Not every beer was the best but they were all interesting and worth the $1-2 per sample. I wonder if all these extra beers were on for the event this weekend though

With DFH I don't find a lot of things that could be good "regular" beers. What I find at DFH is pioneering, and this beer exploration of sorts surely will uncover something extraordinary. They've made (and released) a lot of beers which I would never have the guts to brew in fear of wrecking a batch of beer.

Hey Soonami I think I might have met you at the brewery tasting room on Friday hah! I had the black jacket on, from NY, got to talk to Sam as well and had him sign a bottle and get a picture. Such a nice guy. Got to talk to him again for a few minutes on Saturday too during the actual tasting event in the tent outside. Gotta say the whole weekend was phenomenal. They broke out just about everything they had for this weekend for the brewpub and had 15 beers to sample along with food pairings and other fun stuff at the event at the brewery on Saturday. Well 18 beers really because once Red & White, Black & Blue, and 120 Minute kicked they replaced em with Noble Rot, Saison du Buff, and Old School Barleywine. Sam talked to everyone in the tent for a while and answered questions. I didn't get to do a tour on Saturday since they were all booked up, but got to go on Friday instead which ended up being better (about 8 people on my tour instead of 20-30 on Saturday).. and got to meet Sam hanging out with the rest of the DFH employees after work in the tasting room, sharing different beers with each other

From a quasi-local's perspective (I live just over an hour away from the brew-pub), the only time of the year to go to the brew-pub is during the off-season. They always have great "exclusive beers" on tap, $6 pizzas on Thursdays and oddly enough I think the weekend music line-up gets better during winter. The Del beach area slows down quite a bit during this time of year and it's a great opportunity to try some very impressive food/ beer without any frills or long waits or having to pay 10 bucks for parking.

It was nice chatting with you for a bit. Sam was supercool and remembered me from the day before on Saturday. The beers were great WOCAAW wasn't too packed and they had lots of brewers out to chat with people. I was a fan before but now I'm a devotee-- although I might not like all their beers I love their philosophy on beer and the way they treat their customers
