As many of you know, Michigan's Shorts Brewing just came to Illinois, and my market received the Huma Lupa Licious, ControversiALE, Soft Parade, Bellaire Brown, and Space Rock. Suggestions for which two to pick-up this Friday after work? Thanks!

Two six packs of Huma Lupa Licious.

You're missing out on some great stuff... you'll get it eventually. I just had their Snake Juice and really enjoyed it.

I would say it depends. Soft Parade is a very good easy-to-get fruit beer, in my opinion, if you're into those. If you aren't, and like hoppier stuff, Huma Lupa and Space Rock are pretty nice.

Any love for the brown ale?

Nothing bad to say about it. It's good, I've just been "that guy" who hasn't been wowed by a brown ale before.

Apparently I last had it in 2012 and scored it a 3.84. Of course, my tastes could have changed.

The two I will buy every time I visit Michigan are Huma and ContriversiALE. I haven't really been blown away by much else.

People seem to love the Huma. I love a good IPA, but the fridge is actually pretty well-stocked right now with great IPAs - Pipeworks and Half Acre specifically, plus another can or two of Hopslam.

Shorts just hit PA too. Grabbed an Electric Mullet this weekend, I recommend that, makes for a great spring/summer beer.

Bellaire Brown is right up there with Bells Best Brown.

Huma is freaking awesome- it's in the same vein of IPA's as Two Hearted, in my opinion (strong floral nose with more body than your average west coast IPA).

Space Rock, I just found out, is a gluten free-ish ale. I had no idea and have had several sixes. It's a nice and hoppy above average pale ale.

If they make it too you, their seasonals and special releases are really where it's at. Sticky Icky Icky and Controversiale are both top notch brews. Shorts is high quality all around.

Thanks for the input, man. Excited to try Bellaire after the Bells comparison - same goes for Huma. The Soft Parade also piqued my interest, but for some reason I keep coming back to Bellaire - perhaps because stellar brown ales are few and far between, at least for me.

Agreed on the brown ale comments. I hope this one doesn't let you down.

Soft Parade is also really good. I am not a big fan of fruit beers, but this is one of the best I've had. It still tastes like your drinking good beer, and not some abomination of Kool-aid and beer like some of the Macros have produced. It's a great change of pace brew, especially on a hot summer day.

Awesome. Sounds like I can do no wrong with whichever ones I pick. Good to know. Gonna put that GI refund check to good use.

Has it hit Chicago? I'm in southwest suburbs and will go look for it this weekend if it's here. Thanks

I had a Soft Parade while in Michigan for work last week. I wasn't a fan and felt fortunate to have got it as a single and not a 6er. I generally like fruit beers but that one didn't work for me.

Thanks for the info, I'll look for it then. Never been one to go out and chase beers, I go to buy beer and usually pick a couple out that I like or want to try. I'm sure suburbs will be a little behind the city.

Bellaire Brown is a very good Brown Ale, well worth having IMO.

More of an imperial brown though, right? Doesn't it clock in at around 8 percent or something like that?
