I always love to see people that brew great beer succeeding.

Charlton is right near routes 90 and 84 so perhaps distribution plan is in the works.

Delightful news! Very excited to see where this leads. Hopefully it means more folks (myself included) get to try Treehouse beers. Now the love can be shared a little easier than before, which, at least to me, is a huge component of the beer community.

I thought TH IPAs were ok. Not as good as hyped but definitely part of the cream of the crop. With that said I'm excited hopefully I get to try their stouts

Or happy that I might actually be able to try it. Can't fathom a 90 minute drive on a Saturday morning for 3 cans.

I know several people that go there and I have gone there, and none of them have shipped the beer away. Beer trading is less common than people think. I might give it to friends to try, which is how I first tried it, but trade it...never. What would I trade it for? I can't think of anything I'd rather have.

Locals will be thrilled because getting there will be easier, the lines will be manageable (and parking) and we all stand a better chance of getting these great beers.

As for NoDa, I've definitely seen a difference between the taste at the brewery, on draft elsewhere and packaged...a real shame, as the first option is pretty damn good. Same goes for Pliney, Grunion and King Sue bombers vs cans. Trillium's figuring it out too, but getting better, as hopefully Tree House will learn.

So is Monson. It's simply on the eastern side of Sturbridge instead of the western side. That will mean people in CT will see the same drive time more or less. But people in metro Boston will definitely see a shorter drive time. It's also closer to I-395 heading to southeastern CT.

Don't feel badly. I just got to Trillium three weeks ago and their new digs are a half hour from my door! I'm a bad MABA :slight_frown:

In terms of the expansion, reading the post it sure seems like leadership has their head and heart in the right place. There will absolutely be hiccups, but the commitment seems to be in place. Time will tell, but they don't seem to be blindly jumping off any cliffs by what I read.

Ok, for everyone's reference - regarding brewing capacity, distribution, etc...

    Brewery A) 45,000 bbl / yr
    Brewery B) 35,000 bbl / yr
    Brewery C) 30,000 bbl / yr
    Brewery D) 6,000 bbl / yr

Answers: A) Jack's Abby, B) Trillium, C) Tree House's proposed expansion, D) Hill Farmstead. So it certainly seems like they're shooting for a "Jack's Abby-esque" distribution strategy - eventually.

This is amazingly helpful. I was way too lazy to put this together, so thanks!

Only problem with this is they said the max capacity for the new brewery is 125k bbl/yr.

Reading more on Trillium, I'm a bit confused... I see talk about 10,000 bbl capacity ("Between the two locations we’ll have approximately 10,000 barrels in annual production.") and other posts about 35,000 bbl capacity ("total theoretical capacity for 35,000bbl brewed annually").

Not sure if they mean 10,000 bbl right now, with ability to expand up to 35,000 bbl (similarly to how Tree House is saying "30,000 with ability to expand to 125,000") or if there was an error in the story I originally referenced.

How is that a problem? Jack's Abby is 45,000-50,000 bbl right now, with expand-ability up to 150,000 bbl.

125k is max capacity if they fill every possible inch of the new space with the largest possible tanks. But they did say that by the end of the first year of business they hoped to increase to 50. And that does not include the 30BBL brewhouse in Monson churning out barrel-aged stuff.

I agree. I would never wait in line for anything from treehouse and then send it away. If I'm standing in line for any type of beer I'm drinking it.

Not a problem per se, you just didn't include that in your post so it seemed misleading. I also didn't know that about Jack's Abby (I didn't click the links), but now that you say it seems like they might be similar. I still would be surprised if Trillium distributed much, if at all. This is a total guess, but I'd think they'd stick to the current model with cans and start sending out a lot more kegs, at least at first.

Hopefully some TH fans might be able to find their way into a job at the new place!
