30,000 bbl is a huge amount of beer. I think that it would be physically impossible to sell that much out of the brewery alone, especially after the scarcity issue has been resolved, trade values come back to earth, and those out to make a buck have moved on to the next shiny new thing.

However, I think you're correct about the early distribution which I imagine will be similar to what we've just seen with Trillium. Several months of brewery-only sales, then as kinks are worked out and the new brewery's bandwidth is fully realized, tap lines across the state (region?) start popping up. Shortly thereafter, drops of packaged beer at select accounts - CBC, Julio's, Marty's, etc...

30k is what they are starting at. It's going to go higher as time goes on. I hope they dial in everything first and then work on distributing. Even at the much larger capacity they will still have people flocking. There and buying cases and selling out. Once all is perfected distribute. Otherwise it could turn out a mess. But they seem smart and to have a good plan

They are currently pumping out around 200bbls a week. So somewhere around 10,000 bbls per year at the current rate. Their biggest fermenters are 60bbl, the blog says they plan on having fermenters as big as 240bbls IIRC. My guess is when the new brewery opens, they will be brewing 3-4 times the amount of beer they brew now, then according to the blog, they could potentially brew more than 10 times of what they are brewing now. Pretty crazy to look at how fast they have grown.

Oh it was, it most definitely was. They expanded and are using a centrifuge and it just got away from them.

Trillium is at 35,000? Wow...I would never have guessed. Almost as much as JA...yet I can get JA in every store in the state, and it's on tap all over the place. Trillium is still more or less brewery only. How big is Wormtown now? That's much easier to find than Trillium, even on tap.

Trillium is planning on 9 to 10k for 2016 and Tree House is roughly the same and maybe 8. To put some perspective, Russian River has capped their production at around 8, where Trillium may grow in the coming years to the 30's and Tree House will also be able to produce similar and much higher production numbers.

I can't imagine there beer sitting on shelves for 3 to 4 months even if they start distributing.

First few times I had it (NoDa Hop Drop N' Roll) back in 2014 were at the brewery and out of cans I bought at shops that were less than two weeks old. The beer was amazing and easily one of my top IPAs. Went back to the brewery last summer and the beer was still great. I used to grab the stuff at shops all the time when I lived in NC and one thing I noticed; About a month or so after canning, the beer really starts to change. It quickly starts to fade and while still being very good, is not the same beer. Fresh, it's one of my favorite IPAs.

I look forward to seeing more of their stuff and hopefully it doesn't sit around on shelves. Their beers don't exactly hold up very well, a month+ in the can and that yeast starts tasting off.

I bought my 4 pack from the Brewery and drank it in about 2 weeks, so that would explain it!

this news is about 24hrs old and the skepticism laid out already is palpable. WTF? I couldnt be happier for Nate, Damien, Dean, Lauren, Brendan, Mom, Dad, the whole crew. It is such exciting news for them! And for US! TreeHouse has probably grown well beyond their wildest dreams already and I have full confidence they know exactly what theyre doing.....and it will be great!

Do you guys think they will ever distribute their stuff around the US? I mean, I would love to try at least one of their beers, but so far, it seems like I'll never get to try them.

This is exciting! Not only does this mean I might get to try their beers either through distribution or just an easier trade (which is probably more likely), but it also means that I get to read funny responses from people who think their beer is worse because they can get it now. Win win!

It seems doubtful that they will distribute outside MA or, if we're lucky, New England. But it should be much easier to get via trade once the new brewery opens.

Ok, so 35k is capacity. 9-10k now makes perfect sense.

Ah, I see. I have never traded beer, so maybe I should do a few, and hopefully not mess up. lol
