First time going but I really want to try beers I never have before. Give me good styles and something I never had before. CBS is the one beer I have wanted longer than any other. That is why I have been hoping. Founders makes this seem like a fantastic event every year, so my hope is Saturday's draft list is on par with my excitement.

Picked my 12 bottles with no line around 7pm yesterday.
CBS was on tap during the day, but they run out of it by 5pm or so.
Taproom was packed at 6-7pm, with outdoor patio open.

Went to Z's Bar to get KBS on tap. They were giving out tickets to get KBS at the entrance. Exactly at 9pm two owners of Founder's came in and start pouring a beer. $15 for 10oz tulip (or 9oz, not sure).

    $15? Ouch.

That's actually very much on purpose. CBS aside last year, Founders wants people to grab their bottles then head to the KBS events. They're already releasing bottles week earlier than rest of market so created that "KBS Week" to direct people picking up bottles to head out to their big supporting accounts.

This is ridiculous. Even at bottle prices with a 300% markup 10 oz of KBS comes to $12.50 at retail prices. Folks need to vote with their dollar in these cases and go elsewhere when this is happening. Only way to stop this increasingly common practice.

When you're from out of town and going to pick up then go back home then the purpose of this is lost on the out-of-towners not spending the night. There are much worse things in life, however, than "just" scoring 12 bottles of KBS.

Agreed. Founders needs to control that during KBS week since some accounts are granted the opportunity to participate. Could have had 2015 two weeks ago somewhere for $8/pour. Even CBS was $10//pour at the same place which I thought was steep.

somewhat off topic, but we hit Hopcat a little after their KBS blew and I tried Opus Kriek from Arclight...was super impressed. that was a delicious beer.

2016 KBS sounds pretty exciting to me!

Plus, I remember the previous year's KBS being on alongside the current year too.

What you really mean is not enough barrel-aged brews...

Not necessarily. I'd really enjoy the hazelnut stout mentioned earlier if it wasn't Nitro. I'm sure I'm a minority on this one too, but I can't stand anything on Nitro.

I'm curious to see if CBS is on everyday? 2 for 2 so far? Can anyone at Founders verify this

The Canadian flag was flying today! Probably blown already I would imagine though.

Just saw plenty of Untappd check-ins going on now.

Looks like I won't get any early Friday. :slight_frown:

When I had it, it was thin and not exciting. Not missing much.

When I picked up my beer in 2013 on a Friday, they had nothing interesting on tap at all. Very disappointing. We picked up our beer and went elsewhere. I agree with the notion that if it's KBS Week, it shouldn't be "KBS Day + some other days to pick up your beer." Glad to see CBS has been going on. I'm picking up mine tomorrow, so hoping for something good, though I'll be there early, like at 12.

I'm going on Saturday. Does anyone know if I can I go in, pick up my beer, then leave and come back later to drink? I don't want to haul around 12 bottles of KBS to other bars while taking multiple Uber rides. Also, is Uber readily available?

You actually don't pick your KBS from inside the bar itself but from a side room. You can definitely pick up your KBS, take it home and then go back to Founders or anywhere else.

Yes, Uber is very available in GR.
