I think this is a case of "if you don't have anything nice to say...". I will say something nice about this place...the taproom is a nice buildout and is typically a lively place w a good crowd, the bartenders are friendly, and there is a large selection on tap most of the time. And if you find something you like, they fill crowlers which I wish more places in Buffalo did.
I've never been to their taproom, but their beer is largely average, perhaps slightly above. If you're going by Buffalo breweries, Big Ditch is much better. Resurgence is interested in gimmicks and buying into the trends. Big Ditch is interested in making good beer.
The beers certainly weren't bad, but they weren't anything I'd want any more of. Average in every way. The taproom is a great place, though- lots of fun, and cool to hang out in.
Thanks!! Big Ditch Brewing looks great! Disappointing there isn't more BA input here on the Buffalo beer scene. Will probably be mobbed on St Patricks day....
Never really was an active Buffalo base here, most that were have moved on to other ventures in the beer world.
Another shout out for big ditch. Was there last week. The citrus pale and galaxy red were terrific. The vanilla stout and double ipa were also quite nice. A big step up from the stuff I've had from resurgence which is decent but forgettable
As a Buffalonian, I make it a point to stop at Big Ditch as much as possible... Good beers and they have a Reuben that is also very tasty! I really WANT to like Resurgence, but the IPA is all I ever end up drinking there... But IMHO Big Ditch blows Resurgence out of the water.
