As small as they are right now, I don't think we should be wanting or trying to spread the word and create trade demand. All that is going to do is make it hard to get the beer, and for what? So you can get some good beer? Lets just keep it simple and drink the good beer we already have. They will no doubt grow, they already can't keep up with local demand. I'd say when they get big enough that they can keep multiple IPAs on tap at all times, that would he a good time to start trading their beer.

How much are crowlers at Aslin?

I'd say I wasn't clear in my previous post. I don't have any interest in creating trade demand for Aslin's beers. I was simply trying to say, when I have a local brew I appreciate, my first instinct is to share it with other people. I could care less about the trade value of beers, particularly IPAs.

Funny how right after the crowler machine was mentioned the conversation turned to trading. Kids, this is why we can't have nice things.

Aslin is gonna be pumping out hoppy beers over the next couple of weeks:

    March 12: Stellar Parallax (IIPA)
March 16: Champion Of The Sun (IPA)
March 17: Master of Karate (IPA)
March 19: Bringing Sexy Back (IPA)
March 23: A Small Town in Ontario (IPA)

should be plenty to go around.

Sorry to be that guy, but might take a trip to DC this weekend if this amazing weather holds. My girlfriend has never been there and has been dying to go forever. Naturally I need to make this a worthwhile trip by seeking out a new brewery/brewpub with good beer.

Is there anything in actual DC itself? Preferably with food? Reading through this thread I noticed Aslin is highly regarded but seems a good 30-40 minute ride outside the city. I imagine we'll be doing all the touristy stuff, so anything reasonably close (10-15 min drive) is preferable. If not a brewery maybe a great bar with good local selections? Thanks guys!

I enjoyed it also. I guess those of us that liked it must be absolutely wrong given the hilarity previously noted. I liked Deceiver better, but I thought Delusions was quite good on its own merits.

In addition to the above recommendations, which are all great, definitely consider The Sovereign. It's a Belgian beer bar/restaurant that recently opened in Georgetown and has an extensive bottle list. There's even some Cantillon left on the menu as of today.

Is Aslin reasonably close to any of the last Metro stops, Gray or Orange lines? Maybe cab or Uber from there. Will also be in town later today thru Monday with the wife, doing most of tourist stuff. Would like to sneak out on Sat if possible for the Stellar Parallax. Would it be crowded throughout the day for that beer?

Staying near Reagan and no rental car (not planned anyway).

@LFC_YNWA. Any place owned by Neighborhood Restaurant Group will be solid (the group owns Churckey, Blue Jacket, the Partisan, the Belgian beer place in Georgetown etc.). Also, Meridian Pint, Brookland Pint are good options as well (again, both owned by the same group). Lastly, if you want to take advantage of the weather and be outside, check out Biergarten Haus on H St.or Dacha on 7th St. in Shaw for German beers. Both have great beer gardens. Oh, and Right Proper is a good option too. DC Brau is in the city but their brewery is not in a great part of the city and their tasting room is the worst looking I've ever seen.

@ScottDawg7. Aslin is VERY near the last metro stop on the silver line. On the weekends metro service sucks. Imagine one train evert 20-30 mins.

Thank you guys so much! Awesome recommendations! All of those places are restaurants with extensive tap lists right?

I realize this is extremely subjective but the consensus seems Aslin is worth going 20-30 minutes out of your way for? Does Aslin have food and/or allow you to bring food in? And do they have an outdoor area? @ScottDawg7 carpool with the girls??? :grinning:

We're coming from Jersey so it's a 3+ hour ride there so just don't want to burn too much daylight and I'm planning on driving back that night.

If we don't get to Aslin do any places other than the Biergarten @Drew031482 mentioned have nice outdoor spaces? Not that I don't like biergartens but we have one here and I'd rather try local beer. Does Aslin distribute to most of the bars mentioned above? Sounds like their IPAs are exceptional. I'll go through those places and check them out online too. Thank you so much for all the awesome feedback. Really appreciate it
