That Stone's 16th might just work really well with a fruity Framboise, like St Louis- the overt lemony quality both being subdued by and complementing the berries. Someone else will have to do it, though, because it sounds like too expensive an experiment for me .

Some beers come pre-mixed though like Black and Tan by Yuengling, and a crapload of Lambics are blended.

There was a similar thread mentioning Frangelico a little while back:

So then by saying I like beers as they come from the brewery....those would fit in, yes?

Exactly, so you might like beer cocktails, just not ones made by people other than the brewery.

The only blend I plan on doing is the "heaven and hell" - World Wide Stout and 120 Minute. For the most part, I like my beer and liquor straight.

    Man stuff.

It's not a beer cocktail if it's properly, deliberately blended by the brewer and released that way.

Every beer aged in a used barrel (used for a spirit/wine) is a beer cocktail.

Did that just blow your mind???

    Why not?
    EDIT-
Hmm according to wikipedia a beer cocktail is beer mixed with a distilled alcohol, so beer and beer mixes don't even count.

Should we call them blends? Never had a beer cocktail myself, only blends.

Yeah I mean comparing a Gueuze to me pouring together a couple beers seems worlds apart, I mean I might like it but then again I might create a monster I have to drainpour. Doesn't seem worth the risk.

I actually saw a guy pour his Bud into a glass of ice at a restaurant once. I just kept staring in disbelief with every sip.

Wikipedia is a great source. Articles penned by true scholars, and not just any schlub on the internet. Oh wait...

I have no problem with blending beers, splashing liquor in, etc, etc - the end product still tastes mostly like beer. Not a huge fan of the recent trend of restaurants serving cocktails using beer as an ingredient though - those just end up tasting more like a mixed drink.

*rolls eyes* yeah yeah we all know wikipedia is garbage...blah blah
I searched beyond wikipedia though and most of what I found seems to mean beer mixed with distilled alcohol.
I'd say it makes sense to not call beer with beer a cocktail since cocktails mean a mixed drink with distilled alcohol.

I'm stickin' with beer blends from now on for my term to describe beer mixed with other beer.

Yep there's a big risk to blending beers, but that's why you only do a small portion at first and sample it.
If it tastes horrible then drink the beer separately. But it's not for everyone and that's ok, I can see not wanting to waste a good expensive hard to come by beer.

We made King Utopias at a tasting last week. Yes, King Henry with a splash of Utopias. I've been pissing excellence ever since.

I used to make Dr Pepper Beers occasionally - Coors Light with a shot of amaretto. It really does taste just like Dr Pepper. Coors Light is cheap and can only improve anyway, so why not?
