Highlight of my weekend - about 3 weeks since bottling
    [IMG]

My first Vocation beer yesterday, a disappointing cask beer with a weird chemical/spicy finish.

But they made up for it with fresh Pride and Joy pale ale on keg
    [IMG]

And finally, tonight returning to an old favourite. Doesn't seem as full and rich as it once was though. Better than Guinness and quite cheap from Waitrose.

I had a little comparison of BrewDog Punk IPA vs Hardcore IPA. Punk is my go to IPA because it's not a hop bomb and I can enjoy it. I really liked the Hardcore and the 9%+ I couldn't even guess it was that high. I've got some winners in the fridge for this weekend. Might tap the Cantillon Rose.

I didn't see them either. Hopefully more turns up

I got a few of the beers there, having the tempest one at the moment. Tasty as always

Having one of those right now. Nice hoppy flavour without being overbearing and good session ale at 3.9%.

Inveralmond - Rascal - myself and Mrs. K both really enjoyed this, dark malt and mild chocolate flavour.
6 Degrees North - Wanderlust - both liked this too, combo of weissebier and a sour.
Eden - Shipwreck IPA - not like an IPA at all, in fact it reminded me of Pilsner Urquell.
Laig Bay - Independence IPA - this was almost like a DIPA, similar to something by BrewDog,
Top Out - Altbeir - thinnest Altbeir I've tasted, won't buy again,
Caledonian - Three Hop Lager - almost a hint of raspberry, a bit like Thrappledouser?, liked.

My dad's incredibly bitter stout has ended up about 9% (after accidentally adding the whole pack of sugar) and it's pint #3. Oh ruddy blimey.

Got to love rocketfuel homebrew

Is the Caledonian 3 hop lager in a 355ml bottle? Interesting if it is, would suggest they are going to try and push into the 'murican market with that size. It says it is in the wee booklet I found at aldi earlier today

I'm drinking a Skye Tarasgeir, peat smoked pale ale. It's actually quite well done and I normally hate peat smoked beers. The only other peated one I like is the one Loch Lomond made that I can't remember the name of

Also had half a bottle of wine with my dinner

Anyone had Hobgoblin Gold? It's like quite a nice US influenced pale ale, with Nelson Sauvin (my favourite) and summit hops. Decent stuff.

Yeah I had a taste of that while ago when visiting the old man. Was pleasantly surprised by it but only had a sip as was driving. It was almost at its BBE too, so I imagine it would be a rather good fresh on cask/fresh bottle. Pretty good effort for a Marstons brand

Bosteels are one of those arsehole breweries that sue small company competitors so I've always avoided Kwak.

Ah. Kwak is ok, not as good as la chouffe. I was just interested as they had it at a spoons so I thought that was impressive. Also they had chimay blue, la chouffe, Sierra Nevada porter and a generally improved beer range.

That sounds cool, La Chouffe is awesome, so is the SN Porter (and Stout)!

Didn't get the Skye Tarasgeir, but might pick one up next visit.

Continuing my adventures in Dutch beers :

    Jopen Ongelovige Thomas
    Berghoeve Brouwerij Tevreden Oordeel
    Reuz Black IPA

All pretty good the Oordeel being a nice double IPA.

Have ordered some Polish beers from here :

    http://www.ebrowarium.pl/beerbycountries-c-22.html

Not bad @ £2.50 a shot for 500 ml bottles. Looking forward to sampling some before trip to Krakow in August.

I think Adrian Tierney-Jones hits it on the head with his description of Hobgoblin "Hobgoblin is a collaboration between the cowardly lion in The Wizard of Oz and a caramel-flavoured gush of insignificance".

An excellent weekend in Sheffield for GBBF meeting, much beer consumed at Sheffield Tap, Thornbridge Brewery & Kelham Island Brewery along with many excellent pubs visited.
