I think Wooden Robot is currently making the best/most interesting beer in Charlotte.

They're tapping a Full Nelson Imperial IPA as well.

Does Hubris get bottled and distro to AVL? I am in AVL this weekend and looking to try it. (Excuse my ignorance if I am way out of line lol)

They haven't bottled it since last summer (?), but I thought I recall @CavemanRamblin saying they might do some this spring. I haven't heard or seen though. Not sure about distro in AVL.

I was told a small amount of this new batch would be bottled for distro only.

My new favorite IPA is Wooden Robot - What He's Having. They're on v7.0 or 8.0 now, using 2 different hops each time. Can only get growlers, but it's on par with Pernicious and much better than Hop Drop. Had one of those the other day a week old and man was it disappointing. Bitter finish, no malt or complexity of hops.

This batch of hubris is a little lighter and borderline has that hazy/juicy thing going on that all the kids go wild for these days. But it definitely still hits hard with the aggressive hoppiness that I associate with it. Had it again today and if you like big ass palate-crushingly tropical fruity IPA's, then come get it while it's uber fresh.

Had it today and thought it was very good. Easily the best *standard* IPA on this side of the state. Hubris and Cotton Pickin are probably my two favorites around here. I would disagree with the 'big-ass palate' crushing statement though. IMO, it's not as bitter/palate crushing as ones I consider to be in that category. We had no problems enjoying/tasting other styles afterwards

Not sure what you mean by "standard" but it's most definitely a DIPA. IMO it's extremely aggressive from a hoppy standpoint, but I love it. Glad you enjoyed!

Earlier In the thread you said Cotton Pickin was 'A little different' when someone recommended it for the list. Figured I would qualify my opinion.

Just tried the Fiddlers Dream from Newgrass Brewing. It was excellent!! It had a tropical nose similar to Pernicious

I'm with ya now, you're just meaning clean vs. a brett or funky IPA. When I hear the term standard I usually think of it in terms of single IPA vs. double.

The new batch of Cottonpickin is on point too.

Good point - I had imbibed a fair amount of Cotton Pickin prior to that post, so my wordz usage may not have been in peak condition :-)

The Teacher's Pet I'm having now at little Trophy really tastes great. Better than the last DDS I had I'd say.

I've always thought Teacher's Pet was better than DDS. It's got a great flavor and balance to it.

Haven't seen it pop up yet at any of the main spots i watch, but I'd suggest grabbing one if you can't make it to the brewery. This batch is really really good I think.
