Prices really fluctuate from shelf to shelf. I have seen Black Metal range from 7.99(sale at WF) to 14.99. That's just in TX.

I saw some Jester King at Beer Revolution in Oakland during mid-February. No idea if it's still there. Price was comparable to what I pay in Texas.

I'm just blindly assuming. I may be wrong but I remember when I moved to TX, feeling like beer was more expensive. At least local beers felt more expensive. As I said, I haven't dived into researching it and I may be incorrect.

I have no idea what beer costs in Cali. I was only making a reference initially that everything is more expensive in California.

I understand. Hence the reason I now live in TX.

I am TX too, by way of Ohio though. And Houston....I prefer your city to mine, but this is where I landed following family when I was younger.

It could also be that tabc is taxing the out of state sales or that Jk has to up the cost to help recoup the out of state sales license.

I don't think TABC can directly tax sales, but all the licensing and certification fees can sure drive up prices!

Yep, I saw some last month when I visited San Francisco at Healthy Spirits. I thought to myself "great, these spoiled bastards just keep getting more."

I think the question a lot of people that are complaining is missing here is... WHAT is distributed to California. I doubt Das Wunderkind is... is Petite Prince, noble king, etc making it out there? Or are we just talking about Wytchmaker and Black Metal? So, you may be able to still trade for Cali stuff...

The Cali guy posted: Best Damn Beer Shop got Thrash Metal, Black Metal, Noble King and Petit Prince.

So, everything except Das Wunderkind. For now you might be able to trade DW to a California guy, but unless they are only shipping to a few stores it may be hard to make a trade if someone can drive to the next town to pick it up. I am super happy for Jester King that they can do this. I can buy all of those off the shelf currently in Houston so it is really no loss to the regular Texans who don't trade beers. If I heard that they shipped half of their production of Das Wunderkind or another limited offering to California, I would be less then thrilled.

I had my response all typed up until I saw the guy from Cali seeing them on shelves.
At Urge they are most likely only on tap. Urge is a great place and maybe if SoCal folk try some of their beers on tap there might be more demand for them.
