I haven't heard either way but I'd highly doubt it. None of their other BA offerings ever make it to Ohio in bottles.

I got there about 1:30 with about 30 people ahead of me in line. Waited maybe 20 minutes tops. When I got my case there was still a pallet left to go. The line inside to get beer had about 10 people ahead of me, but only took me about 6-7 minutes to get a Bourbon Scotty. All in all had a great day and really enjoyed bourbon Scotty.

Spike, I agree with you about their other barrel aged stuff. This one just didn't seem to have it unfortunately. Maybe I should have bought a 4 pack just in case it's different than what was on tap...

Two 4-packs might not have been enough. Opened a bottle today. This one has a great balance between the scotch ale and the barrel. They work well together on this release (imo). Don't drink it cold. I'll be watching for the distro and grab another 4-pack when it hits local.

Someone who works for them said on FB that the abv is around 13%, so I'm assuming these were fairly wet barrels. Looking forward to hopefully grabbing a 4 pack when it hits distribution as regular Scotty is pretty good.

Label only says 9.75% which is the same as regular scotty.

I haven't had the regular version in a while, but I thought this one was fantastic. Honestly, it tasted more like an English barleywine than scotch ale, but I'm not complaining. Not a TON of bourbon flavor, but it is noticeable in the flavor and definitely noticeable in the mouthfeel.

If the abv is around 13% that would explain having on 9.75% beer hitting me that hard, glad I picked up a couple of cases whether it is 9.75% or 13% really like this BBA Scotty.

BBPt5 labels are the same. Dark horse is kinda lazy/cheap when it comes to making new labels for variations of beers they already make and have labels for. BBPt5 actually hovers around 14% abv, not the 11% stated on the label.

@BEERschlitz it seems like having an incorrect and listed would be against some ATF labeling laws.

Also most of these labels are made just for these releases (I know like bba tres does not). So having the correct information seems logical.

It would explain why their ABVs don't go up. But the ABV actually being higher doesn't explain a lot of other things.

I had one yesterday and had read that it was a bit hot. I didn't think it was hot at all, very smooth and well balanced. (or I was shot from the time change and being up in the night for work but I don't think I was that shot!)

Yeah these are completely re-designed labels so leaving 9.75% on when the abv is actually a lot higher makes absolutely no sense to me. Im not saying that the abv isn't actually higher but I doubt that it has anything to do with them being cheap or lazy. Who knows though. I think its a fantastic beer and really hope the abv is in fact closer to the 13% range haha

Yeah, it looks like they went through the trouble of making a new label correct?

So why not get the ABV right? Or did they....

Unless technology has changed isn't it very expensive to figure out the actual ABV of barrel aged beers? Don't most breweries just throw on an extra percent or two since that's what you typically pick up from the barrel?

And yet again, they didn't get the year right....

Or are they trying to say its 2015 regular Scotty aged in barrels?
