Man, what a strange and somehow educating thread with little successfully argued and here's a good recap:

-ebayers impact traders and traders impact ebayers and both impact the other markets for beer. Exact degree and precise type of influence hasn't been successfully argued.

-The greatest negative impact has been ebayer upon trader.

-Greatest positive impact has been ebayer upon worldwide market.

-Humans are selfish. Commerce is selfishness practiced en masse. This argument is about selfishness, also whether selfishness is immoral.

-This explains all the points argued. All the rest, to quote Hillel, is commentary.

-Things may or may not get better for traders for an indeterminate amount of time, but it is likely we will know.

We may dress this pig, and argue the larger non beer questions we believe we spy, but it is

    JUST BEER

Actually, since no one is omniscient, every individual has a relative level of ignorance. The ability of processing acquired knowledge (IQ) is also relevant and varies person to person. I find that most people (self-included) know a lot less than they think they do and that the old axiom that wisdom increases with age and life experience (one of Churchill's great quotes, of which he has many, is relative to age and wisdom) holds relatively true, given that your initial IQ is high enough.

I am what I call a "rational" libertarian, meaning a see a role for reasonable regulation and government involvement. Both extremes left and right, limit freedom, the Berlin wall was not built by right wingers:stuck_out_tongue: . Your conclusion is correct though, we do both love freedom.

What if a seller on EBAY actually sells a product for a reasonable price? Sure he profits a little, but so does a guy trading at a 2X advantage for a rare or hard to get brew. I've seen a few auctions that were reasonable considering the market.

Well said Retail1LO! I also enjoy sharing my rare gems with fellow beer bro's as well as enjoying their rare finds. Half the fun of drinking good beer is drinking with good friends who share the same passion and respect for the culture. Cheers!

anyways, looks like Ebay is clamping down on whiskey as well. the "collectible" terminology is being scrutinized with new angles too. & some of the newer attempts/listings are getting hilarious as hell.

LOL @ this thread still chugging along. I'm beyond impressed this thread was allowed to go on unimpeded. However, I think it's run it's course. Twice. This horse needs euthanized.

I just bought a bomber of 3F DL 2011 on eBay for $92.

I would spend $92 and so much more to get a bottle of this, which I have NEVER been able to pin down. Am I the anti-christ???

After having now read every post, I have a massive brain aneurysm and need immediate medical attention.

I had a great bonus in June. For my birthday that was upcoming in July, I felt "entitled" to a bottle of Black Tuesday. Glad I did. Don't generally have the artillery to trade for one. It was a BA selling also, he threw in an extra... on an ebay sale.

If your happy with your purchase then enjoy it, somethings as you say this is the only way to get what you want. If you live in a state that don't get much rare your not trading local stuff for BCBS, it's not happening. If BCBS was an easy buy on Ebay right now I'd take a look. I'd trade for it if Iwould, but I can't, even if I could after I get hammered 2-3X value I still have to ship.

I don't understand why brewers think that just because they made the beer, they get to dictate what I do with it. I hope I don't get a call from a Honda representative telling me I'm not allowed to drive through Indiana.

Also, I agree with you that Shaun Hill seems butthurt about others making more money from his beer.

Nope. My butt feels just fine, thank you. Has nothing to do with the brewery not making "more money" from our beer. We assure you - we charge what we need to. When a person purchases something, you are exactly correct, they can do whatever they want with it. We don't disagree... but are amazed that after 911 posts in this thread, a comment about "money" and being "butthurt" would pop up... ((Sigh)).

I think the part you're missing is that, if it weren't for eBay and the mentality it led to, traders wouldn't be trying to take such advantage of their rare beer.
