I have a close relative who lives near to Russian River. She is a wine lover, though, and only goes to RR, she says, for the music. I have resisted asking her to ship east so far, but it is so tempting. Trying not to be that obligation represented in post title.

I live within an hour of Hill Farmstead, and Waterbury. I usually bring a few growlers and a case of Heady Topper when I travel to my hometown in CT. I don't feel obligated, but friends and family seem to like it.

I've got friends in North Jersey that make me bring them Boat because I live closest to Carton and their stores are always out.

It's gotten to the point where I don't publicize when I'm travelling out of state on social media because the first question isn't "do you wanna grab dinner?" it's "can you bring Heady?"

Have a cousin living in Virginia & he is driving up for Easter. He will bring a case of his local stuff & I will give him a case of our local stuff to take back with him.

The problem is you can't bring bottles with carry-on luggage any more. Whenever I fly it's short stops and I can easily get by without paying for checked luggage. Otherwise I'd love to bring a few bottles of really good stuff from breweries that only have very local distribution (Sacramento). A different situation than OP but even if I lived in Santa Rosa I wouldn't be bringing bottles with me when I fly.

This thread title sounds like the title of an episode of "The Big Bang Theory".

You should be glad they are not into sours. That would get very expensive.

I usually bring back some BA stouts from Boise, either Payette 12 Gauge or Crooked Fence Sins of Our Fathers back east for a select few family memebers

I live just outside of New Glarus so I usually have at least one of two requests to bring down something from their lineup when I visit family down in Omaha. I'll usually try to bring down something else local too like Karben4 or Lake Louie.

I don't but my car does - especially on long trips. Seems like every time I'm near a brewery I used to have to fight the wheel to keep from making a stop. I've given in and now plan a few stops.

Although I live in a great (I think) local beer market (Chicago), the only things people ever want me to get for them are things I have a hard time getting myself so this doesn't come up too much for me. Perhaps I should find less picky friends.

This is how trading should be done.

My whole family isn't into "Craft" beer...(I have family in Northern KY that could careless about Micro-Beer). Every time though I'm there I end up spending more than I do at home (Central Baltimore). The reason? They have better distribution and a great selection of Nano-breweries. No obligations needed but to save money when I visit.

Yeah my brother lives in Tampa, so he knows as soon as I come down for a visit we're off to Cigar City/Cycle. Actually, I'm overdue for a visit now that I think about it...

My parents in law live in Iowa so I oblige them to bring me Toppling Goliath stuff. Good thing no-one I know is into craft or they'd ask me to bring them Tired Hands stuff all the time.

I'd love to help you out, but I gave up trading several years ago.
