Stone Smoked Porter (light tasting but does have an aftertaste. Not sure if it's the hops or the smoke. Either way this would go good with some bbq), Modus Hoperandi (Fantastic. Everything I expect from an IPA), and Petrus Aged Pale. (Maybe I'm too amateur to detect all the nuances, cuz all I taste is sourness in this beer, but it's good. ) I highly recommend this beer.

Returned from Binny's beer social event. Notable beers available on tap included Bell's Black Note and Founders' Curmudgeon's Better Half, Ragnarok and Krunk Monk from FFF, Half Acre Daly Double, and Revolution Eugene.

Now relaxing with Boulevard's Dark Truth Stout...

Fraternity formal tonight. Started off with an All Day IPA, then a Boston Lager or two, then a Stella, then a couple whiskeys. Now finally back home having a Peruvian Morning as a nightcap. I love being in college.

Had my first experience with Sucaba tonight. A nice balance between a simple, sweet malty forward and a complex finish loaded with dark sugars, vanilla, and barrel notes. Quite boozy (which wasn't surprising considering it weighs in at 12.5% ABV), but very good. I have two bottles of Abacus 2011 in the cellar (meant to try Abacus last year, but the bottles were kind of forgotten about in there), so I look forward to seeing how the aged profile compares its fresh state. Another well done brew, Firestone Walker...

I've always liked it. The Pinot Noir + oak flavors mix very well.

Yeah, the event was ran very well. Plenty of bartenders and not overly crowded near the bar.

Rayon Vert. Just got two boxes in and nothing was cold by the time I got them in fridge after dealing with AAA and a dead starter. FML

    Cheers!

South loop? I almost went but something came up. Had a reservation and all :slight_frown: How was it? How was the ice cream?

Yep, South Loop. Very enjoyable and the ice cream was very good, too. After everyone got their initial tastings of Better Half and Black Note they did open it up, so we were able to get more, but only 4 oz. tasters  . To be honest, Black Note was very good, however I did expect more. I really enjoyed Ragnarok on tap as well. Binny's is planning more of these in the future.

Yeah, I was looking forward to it, and then had to pull out at the last minute. Hopefully I'll be able to get to the next one.
