I know I shouldn't ask but my pedantic self can't help it.......what is the principle that forced you to buy four 4paks of a beer you're totally unfamiliar with? And, why was your friend expecting a stout when he opened Gilded Lily? Did he not read the can? Did you not give this "only drinks IPA" friend a heads up?

    well if you must...
1- i might not get back there for like 6 months and have complete faith in this brewery
2- i have at least 6 or so friends that will try anything they have never had
3- i can always lock down some Grimm or OH w/ my local store so those guys can try what they cant get
4- ipa guy went to my car for the cosmonaut but took the GL (yes 4 4paks as well)
wasnt forced to do anything...just taking care of the budds like they do for me
i get boat and 077 consistently where i work so went w/ what i cant get...looking forward to the Stormy? as well

Of course it's $8 for a 5 oz pour. Sigh. I got 12 oz of Regular Coffee for $9 last year (haven't seen a single keg of that anywhere in NY yet on BM except at a random bar in Long Island and Gold Star Beer Counter).

Yeah, the price & pour size definitely sucked. I had to scratch that itch just once since I hadn't seen it anywhere else.

A bar in Philly had Regular, Irish and Churro for an event earlier this month. I can't recall exactly whether pours were 10 ounces or 12, but Regular was $7.50 and Irish/Churro were $12.50.

I just noticed a spelling error on Gilded Lily's can. On the front, it says "Belgian tripel with honey and truffels." It should be truffles, which is how it is spelled in the description on the side. Not as bad as FU Sandy's "Proudly brewed in New Jesery" though!

Visiting the brewery on Saturday. Hoping Cosmonaut and Gilded Lady cans last until then. For the non Facebook users, anyone mind lending a hand and sporadically posting the FB posts on here? Thanks and cheers!

If you visit the Carton website and click the Facebook icon on the bottom of the page, their update will pop open in a new tab. I do not have a Facebook account either and have had no issue reading their updates since Carton has made their profile open to the public.

    jeesh boys chill...
    in order
@HopBomb515 "tasting room availability is posted on FB wednesdays and saturdays before the sessions begin" but yea we got it tonight
@Fezzik1970 yes "start @ 50 F" is just a kind of guideline, i think cosmonaut (and most our aromatic projects) does best work while sitting in a glass and drifting from 50->65 degrees
@abkayak 1 thanks for the faith, 2 hope t see you soon 3 you could live a pretty good beer life just between those 2 guys 4 COME ON MAN i write a lot of words on that can to help that guy know its not a stout
@amb24 that does seem a bit steep all i can control is that we sell it to all our accounts at the same price and the NYC/Philly distributors as well but either way i hope you liked it
@MosaicDrops it'll show. people sit on kegs they think are "super rare" its annoying
@TambaTime i have edited this my checking of prices was wrong
@devilsfan26 good catch, thanks, i will follow up with the printer on how that happened. i know the proof i approved was right i take truffles verrrrry seriously
from there all of you, but especially @Fezzik1970, no brewer is gonna make it in NJ without thick skin so don't worry about our feelings, just have a beer, chill, and let us all know what you think

I didn't find it boozy. I thought there was great roast and some bitterness with sweet undertones from the ice cream. I thought it was spot on.

Here's hoping that next weekend sees a return of 077XX and Boat cans. (and maybe something new????)
The pickings when it comes to can are might slim right now.

My brother-in-law had one last night and thought it was one of the best RIS he'd ever had. I wasn't quite that impressed, but it is a nice beer.

I opened a can each for myself and my best friend was home from Chicago. I had already had it in a growler and really enjoyed it but not from the can. He enjoyed it enough to take one of the 4pks from my car. Got a bottle of cantillion from him at least. :grinning:

Speaking of which anyone know the can date on SDS? I really like that beer but the last 4pks I saw on shelves (Shrewsbury W&L) were from the Jan date and I was hoping for something more recent. Holds up well for sure - it's the beer for the Heineken drinker to get into craft.
