Surly. Their year round offerings are not bad, but Abrasive, Todd, and such at 17.99-19.99 a four pack is steep. Probably would have thought nothing of it in the past, but I am sure with the new facility production was ramped up on these beers. Just yesterday I saw Abrasive canned on Nov. 10, 2015 still sitting on shelves in multiple stores, to me that indicates a problem.

Maine Beer is ridiculously overpriced, really good beer but quite frankly not even the best product in there immediate area anymore. If Tree House can charge $3.75 for a 16 oz. can of Julius I don't quite understand $6.00 for a bottle of Lunch. Crazy. Lord Hobo is also very overpriced for the quality.

Thought I'd put my 2 cents. The first is BCBS Rare... Had 2 bottles, opened 1. certainly a damn good stout, but is it worth $60? not in my opinion. I think if it were 30-40, you could more easily justify it, but not at 60...
Some others would be the Eclipse 50/50s hurt a lot at 30, lost abbey at 19 for a 12oz. Birra Baladin Xyauyu Etichetta Oro really hurts at 50-55 for a 500 mL bottle. The cascade sours definitely come to mind as well.

Prices for Avery beers that are 17%+ are starting to get ridiculous. Great beers, but damn expensive.

Don't buy it if you think it's too expensive.

I don't measure beer in terms of price I measure in terms of enjoyment. Fortunately I have cheap taste.

It costs that much?!?! NYFRB is absolutely disgusting, easily the worst alcoholic beverage I have ever had the misfortune of drinking.... I had to dump the rest because I nearly vomited. I would rather drink Keystone Light mixed with Fireball than this shit.

Trillium...$12 for a 25.4oz bottle of PM Dawn is a bit high. Wish it wasn't so delicious...

I would love to see it at $7.50 in NY. I've purchased Heady at 3 locations in NY, and each time it was $10 or $11. Granted, two of those places were bars, and the distributor that gets them knows they can rip you off....

Not sure where he's getting his prices, maybe Boston city prices, but out here in the Western side of the state, I could go to the three closest stores to my house and pick up Allagash Curieux/Victor/St Klip for $17.99, and just about any Stone 6-pack for $11-12. Hell, when the Stone 12 packs hit, they're only $19-20.

    Some standouts for me...

Lost Abby - High price point always has them sitting untouched
Mikkeller - can't see spending 10 bucks on an 12oz bottle of the new inconsistent flavor of the week.
Prairie - Just came to MA, and some bottles are already collecting dust

Most beer is overpriced right now! If its more than $10 for a bottle or pour, I'd rather brew it myself and have 5 gallons of it for much cheaper!!!

I recently paid $120 for a bottle of Damnation V. I definitely had an "am I paying too much for this" moment.

Yes, the price of 12 oz Lost Abbey often has me trying other beers instead. You can get 2 Crooked Stave or other great beers for that price.

Lost abbey is crazy expensive, but I'll give it to them. Track 8, Track 10 and agave maria are really awesome beers. I bit on a bottle of each, just to try them, but never felt the need to buy another. They sit on their shelves high and mighty with their $19 price tag, so I'm never worried about getting another. Plus they show up on tap now and again and usually end up being cheaper on tap which, you know it's a bad thing when your beer is cheaper on tap then in the bottle.

It's interesting the two streams we have posting on here.

    1) People complaining about $6-$7 bombers being over priced, which I understand in comparison to say a $7.99 six pack, but it's still funny to read about people in a tiffy over a $2 difference versus other bombers without factoring in the differences in quality (sorry $6 for a bottle of Maine Lunch is amazing, that's the same price as a Venti Starbucks Latte). I have a feeling that people who drink a shit tonne of beer may be in this category as costs do add up.

    2) People complaining about very high priced bottles of beer ($30+) that don't deliver an amazing experience, or there are alternatives out there that are same or better for half the cost. I agree on this one, it's tough to spend $40 on a bottle of beer when you know that another option for $20 is a better choice both in flavour and value. There's certainly some mark up here driving the concern, some of it seems a bit frivolous or greedy and others are a very unique experience that's totally worth it from time to time.
