NOVA gets shit ton of these. There are mountains of them at Wegmans when they hit the area. This applies to any HW release except for Milkman, Trickery, Foolery, Ruse and Rum Barrel Pumpkin.

Is anyone else sick of all these damn stouts from Hardywood? Every one I've tried has been crap.

This is true of the regular barrel raspberry, but last year the one with vanilla was much more limited. I found a few bottles at Trader Joes.

Yes. Their BA beers do not taste like BA beers, and once the novelty wears off GBS is just not that great. In general I think their pricing is "off" and it shows when you go into TW or Wegmans and see dozens of cases sitting around for months. Great return and cream are good, but way too expensive.

Also, kind of lame to say "buuuut that's just the ones YOU can get. I drove to Richmond and stood in line for hours and got (1) $20 bottle." Besides homer bias, if they have all these bouron barrels, they should make more with the alleged " good" recipes.

The really need a big stout 12%, even not BA, that isn't a milk stout. That I can purchase in nova. That would be a start.

I understand your point, and I agree with most of it, except that I bought Trickery in nova last year. True, that's been a one-time deal so far, but they are rapidly expanding, I think it will be fairly easy to get their best stouts in the future. I do agree that most of their lineup in general is pretty weak.

I like the idea of Hardywood trying so many different things. Some I have liked: Christmas Morning, BA GBS, and the Rum one. But I have to say I don't care for Trickery and some of the others.

I feel like opinions of Hardywood diverge so frequently because their entire lineup is so dependent on like two beers (their Megastout series and GBS). I'm not a fan of GBS, and their barrel program is lacking in my opinion. The base stout for GBS feels thin, I think, and the barrels and/or coffee don't add much character but rather just try to cover up the weak body. Trickery is much better, in my opinion.

I'm curious to see how they handle their expansion. If they can produce more along the lines of Trickery, Foolery, and Ruse then I'm interested; but this would probably mean lowering its price point/rarity, too (which I would love, but I'm not sure Hardywood is all for). The rest of their lineup is pretty underwhelming. I can see why it's so popular, but there are better Richmond / NOVA breweries.

My intolerance agrees with this. I enjoy trying their stuff, but I need a few people to split the bottles with.

    Hidden Hopyard Series: Volume 1
    American IPA (7.0% ABV)
For our first installment in this new series, we created a
68 IBU Australian IPA dry hopped with Galaxy, Topaz, and Enigma hops.
The result is a very fruity and citrusy nose that is complemented
by waves of tangerine, melon, & passion fruit flavors.

    Passion Fruit IPA
    American IPA (6.8% ABV)
For this limited seasonal release, we decided to take our
Mosaic hop forward flagship IPA and add a great deal of
passion fruit puree post fermentation. The resulting beer will
provide you with a big juicy mouthfeel accompanied by tropical
fruit and a firm hop bitterness in the finish.

I like the lower ABV on these two. Hidden Hopyard sounds great. I hope Passion Fruit is better than Sparkle Boots. It might taste better, but I doubt it will smell better than Sparkle Boots.

    Agreed.
