Hwk-I-St8 covered it for the most part. I'll add that my point about people choosing Group A for scheduling reasons was a minor one. My main point is about bottlenecking creating different odds of success for different groups. And that's what I mean when I say we don't all have an equal chance of being first when it comes to variants. For example, we all have an equal chance at the DLD snifters. Those are first come, first serve, but they're not at all dependent on your group. I've never had issue with the way those are distributed and I probably want those more than the variants.

Because that's what's going to be in DL Variants

I mean if Dark Lord is Soy Sauce, we at least need a duck sauce varietal.

Hopefully they have Dark Lord Potstickers this year, with Dark Lord dipping sauce.

last year i had a difficult time getting some of the better guest tap pours. i assume i was always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Did they put more guest taps in one area or where they random?

The guest taps were all at one large tent, the rest of the tents were FFF taps IIRC.

It was sort of luck to be there when something special got tapped, like CBS. For some of those you had to be in line already to have a hope of getting it, if someone told you "hey CBS is on" and you weren't already in line it was already too late. But other beers like HF Citra lasted for much longer.

i found the guest tap area last year to be mostly a ghost town and proceeded to hang out there a good portion of the day. There were certain times where it got pretty crazy but compared to years past, it was very tame and easy to get almost anything you wanted. I think the weather was a big factor in that as well because there was a certain time frame where the taps weren't turning over at all and it was the same beers for a couple hours which never happens. Also, like @kodt stated, the guest taps are in one area and beers are tapped randomly. The HF Citra KODT was referring to was insanely good and stayed on at lot longer than it should have for some reason. I definitely got at least 2 pours of that, maybe 3.

I'm a DLD noob, but my instinct tells me that all the taps will be busier due to the fact that everybody has pre-spent $40 on food/drink. I expect a good chunk of that for every attendee will go to FFF and guest taps. I've never been there, but I kinda doubt the average person dropped $20-30 at the taps, especially since a fair number don't stay for the whole day and there's a boatload of bottle sharing going on.

I know that, for me, my strategy will be to ensure I get my $40 worth.

The taps are awesome, and will definitely be busy throughout the day. There should always be something on that you will enjoy greatly. Just don't be one of those assholes that asks for multiple pours of a BADL or other crazy beer. Just buy one and spread the love to the other beer enthusiasts around you.

Haha, will probably never happen. However, this was a semi-concern last year since the cops started disallowing bottles after 5 pm in 2014.

Can we get back to who we think the Bands will be?

I've grown weary of all this variant discussion. You'll get what you get and you'll like it!

Last year they had some pours that were $5 and some were $10. I wonder how they will do it this year with the tickets. Maybe each ticket is worth $5 and for premium pours it will be 2 tickets

But with no GA tix this year, there should be less people at the guest taps.

No worries. I'm more interested in maximizing the number of different beers I can try, not in hoarding a few premium ones for myself. In fact, I plan to split most pours with my guest so I can try more different beers.

Yeah, on this subject. I am really curious to the ticket break downs by group. Im gonna guess 2,000 to 2,500 tickets per group. 3,000 seems like too much.

Good point. I'd love to know how many tickets they sold overall. I have to think the "BA variant for everyone" has to be a limiting factor....
