Come at my reserve members

This was just included in the hoarders email for the barrel odyssey.

    SURPRISE! Special Hoarders Station!
But wait, there’s more! As a special surprise and bonus for our Hoarders Society members, you will have access to a secret beer station that is unlisted from any other communications. Upon check-in, you and your guest will receive a token good for (1) 2-oz. pour of your choice from these three very rare beers:

    Partridge in a Pear Tree
    Papier (100% Bourbon Barrel-Aged)
    Black Tuesday (2012)

First you allow RS the same number of tickets as Hoarders... Then suddenly PS starts attending in larger numbers... Suddenly the public is drinking our exclusive HS beer at the anniversary... Then Bruery cancels the anniversary FOREVER! Slippery slope!

I definitely agree with what both sides are saying, but if they also cut RS stuff the HS would be laughing while the RS would be pissed. So, everyone calm down and wait to see what the extra stuff is.

For the RS and PS members: Just because it's something that isn't affecting you, doesn't mean it's automatically something that doesn't suck for others.

I'm bummed about being in Oregon during the Barrel Odyssey, 100% Bourbon Papier is waaaaay up there on my list of wants to try.

Also, I probably used the wrong "affect", I always forget which one it is.

I usually roll with the punches but this is really frustrating after sticking out my membership with all the infected beer over the last few years and experimental bombs
I split my membership and just wanted to bring my wife to the party. I already booked a non refundable room and now have to try to find her a ticket

You booked a non refundable room months out without knowing any of the details but the date?? I mean, no offense, but the twenty bucks you saved doing that seems like a bad tradeoff.

I agree that it sucks being reduced to 2 tickets but on the other hand you can't expected something not promised and blame The Bruery. Planning anything in advance without full details of the event etc. is just poor planning. I hope the extra perks are worth it though and look forward to hearing what they are.

DD ticket? Granted those are one per member but at least they get a glass this year.

I'm an RS member and thoroughly enjoyed last years event. Generally speaking, most hoarders beers that I'm interested find their way into my glass. In fact, for most if us that have been at this for years, we eventually taste what we are interested in.

Having said that Hoarders pay twice what Reserve members pay, not just so they get their initial package, but for the benefits that come with it. How many RS members would sign up for their initial package only.

I have to agree, if RS only got 1 ticket this year, we would not be so quick to agree with a reduction in benefits that was not announced when you paid for those benefits.

In my view The Bruery should disclose things like this at renewal time so customers can make informed decisions.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread to ask but I know everyone in this thread has bottles of '16 S.H.I.T. I just bought a bottle at a bar in NorCal and cracked it just now when I got home and it definitely has the flavor of an infection coming on. It's not at full blown drain pour status yet but it's on it's way for sure. Definite sour flavors are developing here. Anyone else notice this in these bottles? If I tasted it blind I would think it's a BA sour stout but this beer is not supposed to be that.

Tastes how I would imagine a 10oz glass of a BA imperial stout would taste if it was blended with 2oz of Oude Tart. That's exactly how it tastes to me.

But that is one of the few perks of being a hoarder. Hoarders-only releases is obviously the top benefit, followed by double allocations, but the ability to also buy additional tickets for events is really the only other special perk. I would agree that "spreading the tickets" around is more fair, if this event was something new. But this has been the existing practice of the Bruery for years. It definitely seems like reduced benefits when they pull something away like this.

Ultimately it's not a deal-breaker for me, but definitely de-values hoarders which has already been declining in value -- at least as far as additional perks are concerned.

You can't expect a business to maintain the same way they've been doing it for years?

Would you refrain from blaming McDonald's, if they offered you soap instead of hamburgers? They never promised they'd keep selling hamburgers.

I'll bet there are more out-of-state HS that won't be using either of their tickets than there are HS attending that would like 4. I'm guessing however there still is no way to transfer tickets? Or can one HS bring other guests with tickets bought on a secondary HS account as well? @mattolesh ?

That sounds like it would be a slight nightmare to keep track of. And of course additional complaining will follow if it was allowed. =P

Definitely more of the principal of it and does devalue the whole hoarders, which I also have been looking at with tempted eyes to drop from my budget next year. And yes, there will be someone who swoops in to take my place and is such an empty threat, but if you keep on devaluing what hoarders once had or come to expect, then it really does make it not a great goal to reach... how ever the fuck we have assumed one gets hoarders these days anyway.

im not HS, so i dont really have a horse in this race but im still gonna throw my opinion in the ring because, well, fuck it.

i think there has to be a reason they reduced the HS anni tickets this year. the chatter on the street around the tasting room is that this year is gonna be AMAZING so why dont we all just take a breather, let them announce all of the details, and then if you feel like youre not special enough, you can throw a fit then? Were still so far out, at least give them a chance to show you what they got.

also, matt said they are changing a lot of things this year based on customer feedback, so you all have nobody to blame but yourselves lol.
