Mr. K's got some Pannepot Reserva in yesterday. About $9 a bottle. I've been wanting to try this beer for years.

EDIT: I was thinking grand reserva I've been wanting to try. Still, this reserva's one of the best quads ever IMO.

Superb beer. K&L has had the Grand Reserva in the past so you might want to check them.

You forgot to address his last point. I think at this point both sides of this debate should move on, people like what they like. Nobody cares what you think insofar as you won't be changing anybody's opinion. Effectively, you're done with it.

Now you got me all curious about the price of that Sump. How much are they selling it for?

It could literally look like diarrhea, and I would give zero fucks, as long as the taste and aroma is there. I'm not concerned with style guidelines when I'm drinking at a bar or at home.

If they didn't know what they were doing the beers wouldn't taste amazing.

Sorry, didn't mean to mislead but I don't know. I was just going by their reputation. Let's just say that I don't bother driving down there to check.

I think we here on the west coast of California have the most amazing beers in the world. In the last 2 years we have tripled or 4x that. So many new beers come. So our selections keep growing every month. And with all the new beers (IPA's) comes new hops. Most recent coming from MT's newest releases. Over on the east coast they do have some amazing beers too. They have just come into (exploded) the IPA scene in the last 2 years with the exception of a few like Heady, etc. Hill Farmstead and the Alchemist were one of the first in the scene and it took a few years for the other guys to figure out their own recipes. I think they had to make something different than what we brew here on the west coast. And they have. More fruitier and citrus flavored and unfiltered. Like I said here before when I first had Green Diamonds in Manhattan summer of 2014 it wasn't even heard of in NYC. OH was just getting started. I thought it was it was an amazing DIPA. I figured I'd get some average IPA while I was there. I ended up drinking 3 glasses before heading out to other establishments. I wish I had stayed right at Coopers Craft instead of going to the other places. The other places just had average or below average stuff on tap. I have traded for OH, Trillium and other stuff all of last year. And yes it's not the same as drinking it fresh from the source. But in the end it's all good. Just not as good as we got it here.

pretty much agree with dcgunman. early on i used to trade for IPAs from other regions just because i wanted to try them (i guess that's why we all do) but it has gotten to the point where it's kind of pointless to seek IPAs elsewhere. unless of course you want to satisfy your own curiosity.

that said, a friend from MA sends me Treehouse stuff and I always appreciate it because it's fucking amazing.

I heard catchy doesn't like unfiltered IPAs. can't remember where i heard that

i think everyone has known someone who is one of those people who hates everything that people like. at first it may come across as impressive. like, "i respect that this person is taking an unpopular opinion and standing by their convictions." after a while though you see a pattern begin to emerge. where anything that anyone likes, they don't like it. time and time again. and it becomes kind of.. what's the word i'm searching for?

It looks like you just prefer the west coast approach to IPAs over what they're doing in the Northeast. I'm a big advocate of drinking locally, but the beers I've had from Trillium and Tree House are superb and feature an approach to hopping that suits my preferences more than most local breweries. For my tastes, there's nothing on the shelves here that feature similar approaches other than maybe certain Modern Times and Noble releases.

I keep thinking about the senators or evangelists who are so anti-gay, and everybody else is like "who cares, dude, chill" and then they get caught in an airport stall with a wide stance or on vacation with a rent boy

"Hipster thinking" are the first words that come to my mind. That can also be preceded by "I liked it before anyone else liked it...but now that everyone else likes it, it sucks"

Okay...I just got back from a Total Wine HB run to see if they had any Breaking Bud bottles. No luck.
But what I did find was 3 Citra Shower bottles inside the walk in cooler. Had to do a double take on that one.i didn't think they had released it again so soon. Date on it was 12-05-2015. WTF! Did they sit on it? Or was it hidden between all the other shelf turds? There was also a bottle of CitraHolic inside. Left it. Also there was still a bunch of that Dudes Collab with KLOS Bohemian Hopsody. Never had it, never will. What will they do with all those cans in another couple months?

    Speaking of IPAs...

Hop Concept Galaxy & Comet is on shelves. Drinking one right now, and it's pretty darn good. Probably my favorite so far from the Hop Concept series
